Product Description

The number one UK kindle smash hit. Love, Sex and Tesco's Finest Cava reached number one in UK humour and number one in contemporary romance in March 2011.

Film fanatic Rob Smith is thirty-eight, newly single and on the wrong side of two marriages.
Rob's looking to get back into dating but quickly discovers that in the ten years he's been married the rules of the game have changed. After a couple of disastrous blind dates, Rob strikes it lucky when he meets the supremely confident Jenny on URdate.com.
As Rob blunders his way through their early dates, he begins to discover there's a price to pay for the upturn in his sexual fortunes.
Rob has to deal with an anarchic house, three teenage boys, his own sexual inadequacies and the nagging feeling in the back of his mind that, just maybe, Jenny is not all that she seems.
If all that's not enough his best mate Steve's insatiable desire to be crowned 'Halton and District over 35s Five-a-side Champions' is adding to the pressure.
Will love, sex and Tesco's finest cava be enough to see him through?

Steve's hilarious, new rom-com 'Finding Yourself in Seville' is now available on amazon Kindle.

Rob's marriage is on the rocks -his second marriage, that is-. He needs a little more than the annual, perfunctory, shag from the union. He's trying to pluck up the courage to tell Rebecca, his wife -his second wife, remember- that he's leaving her. Over a beer and a large glass of Tescos finest he utters those three little words "I'm leaving you" He is mortified when she tells him she has left him FIRST; well, all but the moving out, that is. She's put the house on the market and a deposit on her lovely new apartment. So begins the bachelor life for Rob.
At thirty eight years of age he feels unattractive and unloved so turns, reluctantly, to web dating. After a few catastrophic blind dates he meets Jenny;a thirty-something, divorcee, with three teenage boys.
Jenny is obsessively jealous of every other woman's breasts. Rob tries to help her overcome this boob envy.

Steve Carter is an exceptional writer. I laughed till tears rolled down my face. I would give this ten stars if I could. I,absolutely, loved it. The best comic genre writer I have read for a long, long time.

excellent 5 Jan 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
this made a real change, seeing the internet dating experience from a man's point of view. Rob trying to take a picture to upload on the dating site was extremely funny, and we see that men have exactly the same insecurities and worries with this sort of thing, that women do. the vasectomy chapter was hilarious. very readable.

This made me cry with laughter. Expertly crafted, and totally contemporary in today's climate of internet dating, it's a mixture of black humour, laugh out loud comedic moments, and real poignancy, interspersed with real insight into how Rob actually feels as he tries valiantly to pursue and snare the woman of his dreams. Come on, how often do we get to hear about relationship angst from a bloke's point of view? Mr Carter has created a new genre...lad lit....and this definitely deserves a look. Rob and the characters who are part of his life(I especially had a soft spot for Simon Drysdale) will stay with you for a long time. Thoroughly recommended.....buy it.

Enjoyable read.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Really well written and some amusing moments. A few cringe moments too with the leading lady's paranoia. On the whole, very good.

The story of a dull man going on dates
I have rarely felt so little empathy with a book's main character. Rob is totally self-centred, bigoted, lacking in any kind of wit or intelligence, and yet somehow we're meant to... Read more

Up until this moment in my life I guess I never really knew what true humiliation was. But now I can give you a really good definition: true humiliation is lying on a hospital trolley with just a green washing-up apron on and your tackle firmly in the hands of nurse who looks like a Bulgarian shot putter, while she shaves your pubes off. Oh! And you might want to add having the nurse say, Dont worry son, Ive shaved much bigger than this, as she does it. "e;
