Cowboy Racer is ex-Salad Marijne (vocals) & ex-Swallow Mike Mason (electronica backing) & even if opener 'Fly My Plane' is a bit like Salad, then from then on things are quite different. The first step into this new world is the brave sparkly 'Yellow Horse'. Things then explode into a twisted beauty with 'God Is My Lover' (very Mylene Farmerish), followed by a brilliant 'More', a fine 'R U Receiving Me', the original 'Love Want Need Hold' suiting Marijne's wistful & exquisite voice - beautiful "and to love love love you is to live without you". Then the very creative 'Listen, Don't Answer', the doom driven 'Cowboy Disco' with some really original ideas here as Marijne's voice & swirling electronica combines beautifully on this noise blast. 'Who Are You?' & 'Love Stationary' keeps us on the edge then ending with the spellbinding 'Forever' as Marijne despairingly states "I need to carry on" - "let's drink to what we have" with a twisted plodding synth sound. For me the star track with chilling final words "I'm Gone" - an epic finish to a creative & brilliant work. "I'm not going to take my life - I'm gonna take life for what it really is".
