Product Description

Review

"a cunningly written clash of religious cultures across continents; and the story of a modern marriage... a strong and serious contender for this year's most promising playwright"--Michael Coveney, "Whatsonstage.com"

Product Description

Michael, a married man running a small business, accompanies a squabbling delegation of bishops to Africa as a lay volunteer. There an unsettling encounter with a hotel porter leads to a series of agonising moral dilemmas that compromise his faith, his work - and his marriage. Drew Pautz's "Love the Sinner" offers a remarkably fresh and painful take on our perpetual guilt in the face of poverty and brutality in the developing world. Intensely topical, it will inspire controversy and compassion in equal measure.

Unique and excellent! 24 Mar 2011
By Vicky
Format:Paperback
This play is one of the most interesting I have ever read. The subject material that it covers is unlike anything else I have seen or read and this play genuinely feels original. There are a lot of unanswered questions, which gives the play depth and makes it interesting to read, because it's not too blunt. When I started reading, I would never have imagined the themes and ideas that arose from the play, and I was certainly pleasantly surprised whilst reading. An excellent, quick read with challenging ideas. Would definitely recommend!

Truthfully unresolved 25 July 2010
Format:Paperback
This play raises a lot of questions - and it doesn't, as far as I can tell, answer any of them.
This is what I like about it - it is holding a mirror to the current state of the world, and in particular of the Anglican Church, and in that mirror there are no cops and robbers, good guys and bad guys, just a lot of people with mixed motives and muddled outcomes.
