Is love ever enough?
Thea - sensible and cautious - has always believed in old-fashioned romance. Her best friend Alice is more of a 'fun first, think later' kind of girl. But just recently they've both been behaving out of character.
When Thea Luckmore falls head over heels for a man she meets on Primrose Hill and Alice Heggarty marries her best friend Mark, both women are blissfully happy - for a while. But it's not long before Alice admits to herself she likes the thrill of the chase more than the easy pace of married life. And then Thea makes a shocking discovery - one which forces her to rewrite her rules for everlasting love …

When you fall in love do you follow your heart or use your head?
Thea Luckmore believes in love - the magic spark of true, old-fashioned, romantic love. She's determined only ever to fall head over heels, or rather, heart over head.
Alice Heggarty, her best friend, is always falling in lust - with dashing rogues who invariably break her heart. As yet another disastrous relationship ends, Alice makes a decision. It's time to marry and she knows just the man.
For Thea, a chance encounter on Primrose Hill ignites that elusive spark she's preoccupied with… Saul Mundy promises to be the perfect fit and Thea finds herself falling in love and loving it.
But though newly wed Alice encourages Thea to settle down and conform, she finds that she's not as keen as she thought on playing by the rules. Alice starts to break them left, right and centre… At the same time, Thea's world, in which love reigns supreme, is shaken to core.
When it comes to love, should you listen to your head, your heart, or your best friend?

Freya North gave up a Ph.D. to write her first novel, Sally. For four years she turned deaf ears to parents and friends who pleaded with her to "get a proper job". She went on the dole and did a succession of freelance and temping jobs. Five publishers entered a bidding war for the book, and her first novel, Sally, was published to great acclaim. Her subsequent books, Chloe, Polly, Cat, Fen, Pip , Love Rules, Home Truths and Pillow Talk have all proved bestsellers.
