Product Description

Product Description

This book presents a charming collection of 18 stylish quilts. Each one explores a variety of traditional and modern techniques including applique and other surface embellishment, as well as machine quilting. The projects range from bed quilts and throws to wall hangings and table runners. Quilters like to buy fabric in 'fat quarters' or 'jelly roll strips' or they have a stash of leftovers, and with this in mind the quilts have been designed to work with these small units of fabric. The projects are designed for quilters of all skill levels and all techniques are clearly explained. Basic how-tos are included at the front of the book and all projects are described through easy-to-follow instructions and diagrams. Bold, bright and beautiful, the quilts have a distinctive Boho-inspired and Scandinavian flair that would suit any contemporary home.

About the Author

Marion Patterson runs an online quilting shop and also organises a quilting workshop programme. Sally Ablett designs for a quilt fabric manufacturer and gives workshops around the UK. Sue Warren co-owns a quilting shop in Newport, Wales, as well as organising workshop programmes.

This book takes you through the basics of quilting with easy to follow written instructions and colour diagrams. The 18 projects will build your confidence and I am sure you will want to make most of them. On the whole they use contemporary fabrics that offer a bright, fresh look. Sally Ablett is slightly more traditional but not old-fashioned. I love the charm square bag and the quilts are lovely. The designs are shown very clearly and the instructions are clear. In addition each pattern has alternative colourways. It includes log-cabin style, pinwheel and other methods of patchwork. An excellent book for the beginner. This book first appeared on Karen Platt's book review website.

Super book 19 Mar 2012
Format:Paperback
I bought this book after looking at a copy that a friend had bought. Although I've not made anything out of it yet for the money I paid it's great. The instructions are easy to follow and if I can understand them then that is praise indeed - can't wait to get started.
