I'm very sorry, but I feel that it is highly unfair that such beautiful music like this has recieved but 1 star. I have seen the show, I have bought the cd, I have bought the sheet music and I couldn't be more impressed with this new musical. I must admit, I was dubious when it was announced that there was to be a sequel to the phantom of the opera, the greatest musical ever conceived, but as soon as I heard the sweeping melodies, the haunting refrains and the genius way that although LND is a stand alone musical, it fits perfectly both as a continuation of the phantom's story, and also musically, with the clever use of themes from the original as well as new melodies which fit into the genre of phantom, I fell completely in love with it.
Many people have slated the main title as a simple rip-off. These people obviously haven't read what Andrew had to say on the matter. Although he used it first in 'the beautiful game' he originally composed it with this in mind. He quickly removed it from 'the beautiful game' as he realised it was in the wrong place. The melody is simply beautiful. As is 'Til I hear you sing'. In fact, I do not dislike any of the melodies in this fantastic new musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber, I simply love them all, and Gustave's motif from 'Beautiful'is as it's title suggests. Still, I suppose there's always a cynic...
