If you want a contemporary adult romance, light and easy to read, with a happy ending, then look no further, for this is a fine example, from an author who is new to the genre.

As the plot begins to unfold, the outcome is all but inevitable, but the journey to get there is full of romance, heartbreak, whimsy and a little humour.

It is a story of second chances; about the rekindling, repairing and ending of relationships; but ultimately, of following your heart.

At the start, we see Chloe as a very confused young woman. The calming influence and unconditional love of her father, during her formative teenage years, has been cruelly curtailed by death, leaving Chloe in the clutches of her possessive, domineering and over-bearing mother, until the situation has become just too much for her to bear and now they are estranged.

Chloe now seeks some renewed security and stability, but is beginning to realise that her life may be running in parallel with that of her mother, and that she may be making the unthinkable mistake of swapping her possessive mother, for an equally controlling husband.

The confusion of Chloe's own feelings, is only further tested, when documents are revealed, showing that her mother had chosen security in her own marriage, to the detriment of her true feelings, thus making her the bitter, resentful and unhappy person that she had become.

Chloe now starts to `come of age', as she considers not only her own future, but that of her mother. With heightened perception, she realises the sacrifices and heartbreak that her mother has endured, in order to give her a stable upbringing and she resolves to heal the rift with her mother, by working to give her a second chance at happiness, but should she follow a similar course with her own life and allow her heart to rule her head, in the pursuit of true love and lasting happiness?

The transformation in her mother, with her new found love and happiness, is amazing and Chloe now realises that it is time to make a similar decision of her own, before it is to late ......

A fantastic debut novel, full of characters who are nurtured and changed throughout the emerging storyline, written with great perception and a little humour.

An author we are sure to hear lots more of in the future, Geraldine is already working on her next novel in the genre, `Chocolicious', the title alone is sure to make this a popular choice for all you romantics out there.

definitely not my cup of tea... 20 Nov 2011
By C. Williams - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
There have been many times I have loved a book, and was suprised to see 1 or 2 star reviews. Now it is me in the minority...

My reasons:
1. The basis of the "love" between Chloe and Josh is their "relationship" when they were 11 or 12. When Josh moved away, they pledged their undying love for each other, and he promised to come back and marry her. I CANNOT buy love between children that young.

2. Story problems - Chloe has an iphone, but she "snaps the phone shut" MULTIPLE times in the story. They arrive at a cabin in Yosemite, but check out of a hotel. They go whitewater rafting, THEN to breakfast. Chloe gave a description of Ignacio's life that included details that she did not learn until later in the story. There are more, but I am avoiding spoilers. I attribute these problems to lazy editing.

3. Grammar and punctuation errors abound, also use of the wrong words, or strange phrases. An example of a strange phrase: "horsing food down". I've heard of "wolfing food down", but never horsing. There were other things like this that would stop me in my tracks, wondering what it meant.

4. Most of our time with Chloe was her trying to decide to follow her heart or head. Even after she makes a "decision", she starts her indecision again. I got SO tired of that. I wanted to scream at her.

5. The dialog did not read realistically for me.

6. 24 year olds played "spin the bottle". Need I say more?

All these issues seriously overshadowed any good points about the book, making this a book I would not recommend, and an author I would not read again.

Final note: I was shocked to see in the final acknowledgements that there was an editor, I would never have guessed it.

When isn't the age old question asked?"love or money which is better" The story this author brings it to us in is entertaining and gripping. She also brings us a fabulous side story of a strainded mother daughter relationship which is also timeless. You add onto that a tiny dog , a wedding and a bridal shop manager you have a book you can not put down. I read this in one sitting. I loved the story I found it romantic and hopeful.
