Product Description

Once upon a time, there was a kingdom in which lived a beautiful princess. She was a sweet soul, kind to all and was thus loved by the whole of the kingdom. Several young men had fallen helplessly in love with the princess, but unable to enter the castle, all they could do was send her letters of their affection. However, to their dismay, they found that letters from just anyone would not reach the princess. So the young would-be suitors set themselves on finding allies among the castle's servants, so that they might deliver their letter to the princess personally. Love Letter has become a worldwide hit with its simple yet deep gameplay. With only 16 cards, it contains hours of fun for everyone as you attempt to win the heart of the beautiful princess, while preventing your challengers from doing the same! Love Letter Kanai Factory Edition is based on the same rules and cards as the Love Letter Tempest Edition but features the charming art and graphics from the original game first published in Japan.

Tremendous little card game, quick to play and immensely fun, an lovely mix of deduction, strategy and luck, the Kanai edition has beautiful Japanese style card art, and one of the rules is slightly different, altering the game play from the tempest edition slightly. Just a great little game you will want to play over and over again.

Fantastic Game & Better Than AEG Version IMO 26 Oct 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

First off Love Letter is a great little 16 card round-based game that plays quickly and has some really neat moments. That said this will focus on the difference between this and the AEG version that comes in the lil draw bag.

This version has more Japanese-like artwork that I honestly prefer over the more traditional fantasy AEG print. Some of the names of cards have changed, but the most significant change is the Countess (AEG) vs. Minister (Japon). The Countess makes you discard her if she is "caught" with the King or Prince and the Minister simply makes you lose if the total of your hand is 12 or higher.

Now a lot have complained that it's lame there's a round 1 loss condition in randomly drawing a Minister plus any 5+ card. This is easily avoided by just making a house rule that the Minister "kicks in" after turn 1. Plus the addition of him to the game makes any 5+ card just a lil more dangerous as you could draw a Minister at any time for instadeath.

There are also two promo Princess cards (nerd and prince) add some nice additional flavor.

So I'd say that unless you're really in love with the draw bag or the artwork of the AEG print to go with this one and soon! Especially as how this comes with some promo Princess cards that can be substituted in (the nerdy Princess and the Prince for the ladies).

A quick 5 minute filler game you would want to play over and over. A family favorite! 14 Nov 2013
By D. David - Published on Amazon.com
Not sure why this game has only 3 reviews. This is one of my favorite game. We were even able to teach it to our 7 years old son, who relies on the pictures, not the text, and still manages to win the game. If you need a filler game, a quick game, and fun, then this is one of the few I can recommend. With less than 20 cards (total 20) the game plays in less than 5 minutes. I actually have it in a ziploc, carrying in my pocket when I know there is an opportunity to play.
In this game basically the last person with a card wins the round. Game plays over 4 rounds, where each round won earns you a point. It is quite enjoyable as 2-player, but the more the merrier as in some of the cards you can attack other people. At the start of the came each player has 1 card, on your turn you pick up a card, and play a card so you end up with 1 card at end of your turn.
Bottom line - this is game is a no brainer to think twice about purchasing. At a cheap price I say GET IT!

Much better artwork 3 Oct 2013
By Joel - Published on Amazon.com
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
This edition of Love Letter uses artwork from the original Japanese version of the game, which I find much more appealing. Included are an extra princess card (with glasses) and a a prince card. These additional cards do not change the gameplay at all, but are simply aesthetic variations for the princess. Also the original US release comes with a felt bag for the cards, this one does not. I don't think this is a big loss at all. If you don't know about the gameplay please see all of the excellent reviews for the original US release. This game is extremely fun to play--it's still amazing that it only has 16 playable cards! If you don't have a copy of Love Letter, get this one!

Beautiful art on a wonderful small and short game. I especially love that you get 3 options for the person you want to win the love of: traditional princess, nerdy princess, and a prince.

fun little game 6 May 2014

i really enjoyed this game, very easy to learn and quick to play. the quality of the box and cards is great! my only complaint is that it was not very deep and is only fun as a filler game, but not bad for 10 bux. im glad i went with this version over the regular AEG version even if i lost out on the red cloth carry bag.
