Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
I recently bought 'Mellow, mellow' which is a compilation of 'original smooth grooves & chilled beats' and on it were 2 tracks I used to love years ago: 'The sweetest pain' by Dexter Wansel & Jean Carne and 'I'm back for more by Al Johnson & Jean Carne. Both of these tracks are particularly excellent and it got me wondering why I had not explore Jean's music a bit more. She has the most exquisite voice and it warrants a better listening to.

Hence, I bought this album and was not disappointed. There are 10 tracks. The 1st 8 are very good soul tracks both fast and slow. Then the surprise: It ends with 2 classic songs from a bit further back. 'Misty' and 'Someone to watch over me'. I suppose these are more in a jazz genre but they just go to prove what a versatile voice she has and how she can turn it to anything and make it sound good.

Once I have enjoyed this a bit more, I intend to buy all her albums one by one, starting with the 1st one.

An under-appreciated voice... 25 July 1999
By Tom Conroy - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Jean Carne is one of the music industry's best kept secrets, she has been putting out some of the best jazz-R&B for years. If you are tired of today's female R&B singers ear-splitting histrionics, check out Jean. She is smooth and sultry and knows when to belt it and when to whisper it. Keep 'em coming,Jean!

Classic Carne 2 Feb. 2000
By Beverly Praiswater - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is one of Jean's very best. My favorite is her sensuous Have I Told You That I Love You. Jean and Billy Paul smolder in their duet. I have been one of Jean's fans since her very first album from Philly and never, ever miss the chance to see her live. Jean, if you're reading this, Brad & I wish you all of the best as always and look forward to seeing you back stage again.

Multifaceted vocalist 26 Mar. 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com

If you like Jazz in all his genres, you will appreciate her last release. The first half of the album is Smooth Jazz, the second half more classic Jazz. A nice mixture for those, loving both.

Quiet Storm balladry does not get smoother than this. 8 July 2003
By Justo Roteta - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Jean Carne recorded some truly mind-blowing, ever-beautiful Quiet Storm-flavored gems on this CD. "No One Does It Better", "Make Love", "Falling For You" and her remake of the standard "Someone To Watch Over Me" are all excellent reasons for buying this CD which (incredibly) got almost no radio airplay.

Jean Carne is the best kept secret. 12 Aug. 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
We saw her perform recently at Blues Alley in D. C. Her performance was remarkable! Her voice is better than Tina's or Nancy Wilson's. I don't understand why she's not more famous.
