I love Richard E. Grant and Carrie-Anne Moss but this story is just terrible. Sad to see actors given so little to work with-- the performances end up flat not because of bad acting but because of the cliche plotline.
Not worth your time. See 'A Merry War' or 'Memento' for great performances from both.

A comedy about divorce, finding yourself and the bond between a father and son. Unexpectedly funny and touching. I say B.

A movie about divorce, realizing what is important and the bond between a father and son. After his wife (Moss) leaves Dr. Bingham (Grant) he goes into a deep depression. With help from his son Dr. Bingham changes his image and starts dating again and seems happy. When his son falls in love he puts his plans on hold and helps his son, and learns more about his wife in the process. This movie is really funny and unexpectedly touching in parts. Dr. Bingham thinks only of himself until his son falls in love and then the bond between him and his son starts to grow and it is fun to watch how they interact with each other. This movie was very surprising one of the funniest movies that has come out in the last few months. I give it a B.

A bit overboard, but has its charm

The acting in this movie goes overboard and at times Richard Grant seems like he's forcing his part. However, Love Hurts has a charm all of its own, much more so than the stale romantic comedies Hollywood produces nowadays. The plot focuses on a father (Richard Grant) whose wife has left him. The son, a high school player, helps him date again, showing him how to be popular. What really makes this movie work is the relationship between father and son. The emotions are real and never sappy. By the end, the father teaches his son about true love and how to deal with a serious relationship. Overall, one of the better romantic comedies of recent years.
