Was a huge let down , the way it was advertised made it look like it was series 1-5 but only got 1-3 , false advertising

This is a gangland drama said (by some) to be Dublin's answer to The Wire and it's great to see Ireland do something that gives such an intimate view of its community, even with the focus on some nasty characters.

It has all the ingredients of a quality drama series - good acting, characters that engage you, and an intricate well-paced story full of suspense, changes in fortune, shocks and surprises. It also has a strong feel of realism. In lots of similar tv, when guns fire it's almost part of the scenery. People routinely miss or dodge. In this, when someone pulls a trigger, you can imagine yourself being hit.

I don't quibble with the positive reviews - lots of people obviously loved it - but do be aware that it is so gritty it makes you feel you are not just watching grit, you can practically taste it. The characters are nearly all unattractive: either nasty, ugly, spiteful, stupid, treacherous or a combination of the above. The sex scenes are close ups of sweaty spotty skin. The happy scenes (there aren't many of these) are close ups of sweaty spotty faces blotched with the effects of drink or drugs. It is as though the producers were playing a game to make the viewer feel uncomfortable or appalled in new ways at every moment. I quite liked that, but it isn't for everyone.

If you get it please don't look at the back of box 3 as it contains a massive spoiler in bold type.

Towards the end of series 3 it became, in my view, very implausible. I won't give any details as it will spoil. By all means watch it and give me your own view.

Eh? What's 'coola boola'? By the time you're half way through season three, you'll know. If you're looking at this, then there's a strong possibility you've already seen this on TV or have had it recommended to you by someone who has. And so you probably know just how good this series is. It is, and I can say this without fear of contradiction, the best irish made TV drama series so far produced. The TV critics did slag it off a little in season one, but it's one of those shows you just have to stick with as the story builds, and the back story to the main characters also builds. By season two things have changed considerably for the gang, now under new leadership, but the central characters are still driving things along at a much faster pace now. In season three, well let's just say it gets 'complicated' for all concerned, and violent, and bloody, and some just won't survive it all! Buy this with confidence, if you stick with the 'gang', you'll be eagerly awaiting season four, bring it on.

Also just finished the 3rd series and have to say RTE have done a fine job with this. The realism and lack of "Hollywood" gives it a very life like feel. Highly recommended and well worth a watch. Best of Irish Tv in many a year.

Really enjoyed this serie with its twists and turns. Some you can see coming a mile of, but for most, you are left gobsmacked! Good, gritty, and I love the Irish accent :-)

Fantastic. A real must watch series.
Can't wait for the next series.
A crazy insight to the underworld in Dublin. Robert Sheehan is fantastic as Darren
