Product Description

CD Description
Manchester's indie-grunge four piece Nine Black Alps' second full length effort is the follow up to 2005's 'Everything Is.' Recorded over four months in Los Angeles with producer Dave Sardy (Marilyn Manson, Rage Against The Machine), 'Love/Hate' possesses a less angry overall tone than its predecessor, without losing the band's capacity for self loathing and dark lyrical subject matter. Includes the singles 'Bitter End' and 'Burn Faster.'

1.0 out of 5 stars Is this really the same band ..., 21 Dec 2008
... that produced the superb "Everything Is" ? I was excited and to learn that there was a follow up to their wonderful debut. And good god, does dissapointment hit hard. Everything that well "Everything Is" was, "Love/Hate" isn't. Powerful ? No, this is limp. Insipid even. Exciting ?. Nope dull. Flat. If you have nothing positive to say then you shouldn't say anything I guess. I suspect they'll slip away now into obscurity or disband on the back of this. Such a tragic end when "Everything Is" delivered and promised so much.

3.0 out of 5 stars 2nd album syndrome., 17 Feb 2008
By f*** your system.try mine "chris" (born in essex.live near peterborough) - See all my reviews
unfortunately nine black alps seem to have caught the second album syndrome that is effecting alot of modern english bands over the last few years....
it sounds very...snow patrol-ish to be honest.not much of the first album remains in this.dont get me wrong its worth a listen or two but would probably have original nine black alps fans turning in their graves.

its a whole new direction !?

im unsure weather this is a review or a warning to those who purchased the first album.its not as jumpy and energy filled as their first outing and would probably dissapoint.
but if you like snow partol's latest showing then this is one for you.

remember.good listen indie fans,be warned nine black alps original fans.

3.5/5

2.0 out of 5 stars A step in the wroung direction, 12 Jan 2008
By S. J. Wadge "SJW" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Extremely disappointed with this album & can't understand the change in direction. They've gone from an edgy indie/rock band with 'Everything Is' to a bland MOR/pop act with 'Love/Hate'.

Was really looking forward to this album following 'Everything Is' which rated between 4 - 5 stars however after a few plays of this will now go to the bottom of the pile.

If you like bland, throwaway music then get 'Love/Hate' on the other hand if you prefer something with some edge & quality get 'Everything Is'- It's hard to believe its the same band on both albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars Difficult second album? What difficult second album?
After thier amazing debut it was hard to seen how NBA could top themselves. In fact they could have just churned out the same album again and it would have been great. Read more
