Book Description

31 Jan 2013
'I haven't giggled so much in ages. I sailed through it, only occasionally having to put it down to wipe the tears of mirth from my cheeks.' Daily Mail

'Clevery constructed and downright hilarious.' Closer

When Nick Spalding self-published Love... From Both Sides and Love... And Sleepless Nights he became one of the bestselling ebook authors of 2012. Now for the first time the Love... books are being published in a longer format with more of the love story, more of Laura and Jamie's ups and downs and more of the laugh-out-loud hilarious moments that fans have come to know and love.

Sometimes, the hardest part of finding love is keeping a straight face...

For Jamie Newman, being a single guy isn't proving to be much fun, especially when confronted with a sexually belligerent divorcee and a goddess so far out of his league she might as well be a different species.

Mind you, being a girl in search of love isn't a bowl of cherries either. Just ask Laura McIntyre, who's recently contended with a horny estate agent on a quest for light relief and a rabid mountain bike enthusiast with a penchant for lycra that leaves little to the imagination.

When Jamie and Laura bump into one another (quite literally) it looks like their luck may have changed - but sometimes finding the right person is only the start of your problems...

Love... From Both Sides
is a warts-and-all romantic comedy for everyone who knows how tricky the quest for love can be.

Product Description

Review

Crude, cleverly constructed and downright hilarious!

(Closer)

Book of the week. 'Lots of fun.'

(New!)

This is a funny read about life and love and how difficult it is not only to meet the one, but then to try not to poison, alienate or otherwise distress them in a huge variety of ways... They're great characters and you'll be rooting for them from the off, not to mention howling with laughter in the process... It was obviously only a matter of time before someone snapped [Spalding] up and I'm very glad they did as I haven't giggled so much in ages. I sailed through it, only occasionally having to put it down to wipe the tears of mirth from my cheeks.'

(Daily Mail)

About the Author

Nick Spalding is an author who, try as he might, can't seem to write anything serious. He's worked in the communications industry his entire life, mainly in media and marketing. As talking rubbish for a living can get tiresome (for anyone other than a politician), he thought he'd have a crack at writing comedy fiction - with an agreeable level of success so far, it has to be said. Nick lives in the South of England with his fiancee. He is approaching his forties with the kind of dread usually associated with a trip to the gallows, suffers from the occasional bout of insomnia, and still thinks Batman is cool. Nick Spalding is one of the top ten bestselling authors in eBook format in 2012. 5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh out loud 14 Mar 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
A real page turner! I have read so many reviews of books that have said "made me laugh out loud" only to be disappointed when I read them and only managed to raise a smile. This book truly made me laugh out loud, to the point of my husband asking what on earth was so funny! The numerous disasterous dates of both characters is hilarious and I wish Nick would write a whole book dedicated to them. I loved the way the book was written, blog from the male character and diary from the female character. Unlike Bridget's Diary, where the entries are written in shorthand form, the writing flows far more naturally. I have never read what I class a chick lit book written by a man before as I just didn't think the two would go together, but, am truly converted. Well done Nick, will be downloading the next one to my kindle as soon as i've finished this review

5.0 out of 5 stars Side Splittingly Funny 28 Mar 2012
By Jasicle
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Being in the middle of a very fraught house sale I neded something to take my mind off the various disasters that keep befalling the said sale. I somehow chose this book amongst the miriad of books that I had plowed thru and discarded. I can honestly say from the first page I was laughing (something that has not been inevidence since the start of the house sale). At one point I was crying with laughing and having difficulty breathing. This man is a genius and a very talented writer who can see life as it really is, warts and all and has a way of describing even the most mortifying of experiences in a way that has the reader (this one inparticular) crying with laughter. Perhaps I just have a very warped sense of humour, but if that is the case then it matches in like a jigsaw puzzle piece with Mr Spaldings. I will now search for more of his books to keep me company during the rest of the house sale and any other tense periods that will no doubt rear their ugly heads during the course of my life. thanks Nick x

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious! 19 Jun 2013

This book was so funny that I would be sitting and laughing out loud whilst my husband looked at me as if I had gone nuts. Written from the male and females point of view, we are told the dating experiences of two people through a blog and a diary. Of course the majority of these are disasters with hilarious consequences.
I loved this for a light, easy read although do not read in public because you will get some odd looks for laughing so much.

Format:Kindle Edition
MY FAVOURITE NEW WRITER
I love this book and laughed so much. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but if readers havent found this book funny then Im afraid they have a total sense of humour failure!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very funny book. 18 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
A very humours book that made me laugh-out-loud on many occasions. This is most definitely what I would describe as chick-lit, so the likes of my husband wouldn't touch it. But I was drawn in with all the good reviews and I'm glad I read it. I've docked it a star only because I didn't think there was much originality, but where this novel shone was in the characters of Jamie and Laura McIntyre (who I liked very much) and the humour throughout was very good. Probably not one for the men (maybe you should try Tony Royden's hilarious comedy/gangster thriller The Dealer instead), but I think you all you women that like romantic comedies will love this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Cracker from Nick 9 Sep 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I bought this because I have really enjoyed his last few books (not the hedgehog one though - urgh!!) and I was expecting great things from it. I wouldn't normally read this kind of book, but i hoped Nick would put his usual funny spin on it. Well I wasn't disappointed - this is a great book.
Its funny, sweet, excruciating and touching all at the same time. I really felt for the two main characters and was cheering them on hoping they would work things out in the end.
Some of the dating disasters were so horrible I find it hard to believe they actually happened, but Nick assures me they did. I must have been lucky to escape some very strange people is all I can say...
I highly recommend this and I can't wait to see what Nick comes up with next. (But not more of the horror stuff, please!!)

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this author! 17 Sep 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Like other reviewers, I've read a lot of Nick's work but I think this one is my favourite so far. I can't count the amount of times I laughed out loud whilst reading and I love that it was based on real life dating stories. The way the story is written (with Laura's thought written in a diary) reminds me of Bridget Jones but the blog entries from Jason makes it modern and up-to-date as well as giving a male poing of view. I found some of the entries brought back memories of some of my own funny dating disasters - if you ever do I sequel Nick, I've got plenty of material!

2.0 out of 5 stars Definitely NOT a laugh out loud romantic comedy 16 April 2012
By Nicola
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I thought the concept for this book was great, a story from two perspectives. Unfortunately I don't think the author has enough life experience, or understanding of what makes women tick, to write as a woman in the first person with any credibility.
Instead of the laugh out loud experience I was expecting I actually sat cringing as I read this.
I persevered, willing to give this book a fair chance, but it remained crass and unoriginal to the half way point, when I gave up.
