I personally know Pama International, but have no business interest with them. I got to know them frorm their gigs and fell in love. I think this is one of their best albums, and my friend just happened to be playing it now, in fact! 'Throwaway Society' is a downbeat song, but says something I never hear people saying "Television broke, so you throw it away... Your marriage is broke so you throw it away... My mind is broke so you throw me away... Throw-away Society". This is a real observation on today's society distilled into song.
It's not all doom and gloom, but the album has a very thoughtful vibe about the whole thing, and this as stated above certainly has its place in music, even Ska/Dub/Soul of this nature.
'The Race For Inner Space' is a great, spiritual track, which is a good thing to listen to when you find yourself having one of life's inner struggles. Shaun (the songwriter of the band and all-round sound bloke) has some good lyrics and subjects on here, including 'High Rise', which is a simple, female-led uncontroversial call to peace aimed at weapons-wielding youth.
You probably won't hear that in a grime track...
