LOve Feast - how to do it!, 29 May 2011
This review is from: The Love Feast: An act of worship to enrich the Church (Paperback)
This is a very practical guide, especially for someome who understood the principles but didn't really seem able to get a service together. This has a lot of ideas, and even an off-the-peg service. The music suggestions could have been broader, especially with some more comtemporary material (e,g, from Michaela Youngson, Shirly Murray and Bernadette Farrell) and perhaps pointing to greater use of chants from, say, Wild Goose, but perhaps there is the strength for me of the book - filling in the gaps that I, as a musician, need!
I had fun with the Moravian buns recipe - it says it makes 12, but doubling the recipe I ended up with 48 and a loaf, and sticky dough up to my elbows.
Love Feast is an excellent form of worship, especially in these times when we can't always get a Minister or even a Local Preacher (Sorry, using Methodist-speak- translate as appropriate!), but really worthwhile in its own right. This book, however little or how much you know, will help you!

Practical Guide, 28 Mar 2009
This review is from: The Love Feast: An act of worship to enrich the Church (Paperback)
I'm the author, so I'm biased, but I think this is a useful practical guide to an almost completely neglected act of worship. Love Feasts are great, so try one at your church - this book shows you exactly how.
