Boys Like Girls didn’t have to look far for inspiration when it came time to record Love Drunk, the long-awaited follow-up to their self-titled debut. After spending three years on the road in support of Boys Like Girls, the four friends from Boston knew how much they’d progressed as a band, and they credit a lot of that growth to their fans. So Boys Like Girls did what they do best, embracing the same dynamic in the studio that has become a trademark of their live shows. It started with the songs but ended with the performances. In a day-and-age where technology rules and albums can be recorded with the press of a button and the loop of a sample, Johnson, guitarist Paul DiGiovanni, bassist Brian Donahue and drummer John Keefe wanted to capture their essence as a band, making spontaneity more important than pristine over-processing. It’s the mindset that rules their live show, and it’s the mindset that would shape Love Drunk.
“Love Drunk,” is the album’s anthemic lead single and title track and a punchy celebration of love’s intoxicating effects, the track finding an all-too-happy medium between the band’s pop-rock debut and the more electronic fashion of bands like the Killers and Franz Ferdinand.

Format:Audio CD
You're probably going to tell me that I should know
better about this one and you're very probably right.
The thing is, despite every ounce of my better judgement
screaming "NO", I like it. I like it a lot in fact !
These young gentlemen hail from Boston (a very pleasant
and civilised city by any measure) and all the available
evidence suggests that their mothers have brought them up well.
'Love Drunk', their second studio album, is a collection
of 11 perfectly lovely and well-crafted pop songs.
Ridden with cliches, simple (but dandy) lyrical ideas and
little thematic variation but the project is none-the-less
chock-full of the enthusiasm and unbridled energy of youth.
The chorus of 'Contagious' sums it all up nicely because
that's just what it is - CONTAGIOUS !
Miss Swift's contribution to 'Two Is Better Than One' could have
been cringe-worthy but the duet with lead singer Martin Johnson
is an upliftingly poignant song, beautifully realised by both.
Title track 'Love Drunk' is an engaging front-runner.
It romps happily along like a tent full of over-excited puppies !
'The First One' is another well-constructed power-ballad destined
to make many a young listener moist-eyed and blubbery.
'Go', with its cracking string arrangement, is a more ambitious
composition and arrangement which points the way forward to an
interesting and promising future.
Mr Johnson's superlative vocal performance is powerful,
focussed and totally convincing. This lad really can sing !!
Band members Messrs DiGiovanni (guitar), Keefe (drums)
and Donahue (bass) are much more than a supporting cast.
Boys Like Girls are a rock-solid little ensemble who more
than deserve both our applause and admiration.

This is a cracking album. I have the first BLG album and loved it, so i awaited this ablbum with great expectations, and wasn't dissapointed. Its a great pop, punk, emo, rock album, call it what you will there is something for everyone, a must have album.

Loved It!!!!!!!!!!!! There are some really catchy songs on it and i would recommend that you definitely buy it, especially if you loved the first one. :D

Excellent album!!
This album is one of the best albums I have heard all year. A little different to their debut album, the self titled 'Boys Like Girls' record but I think it is better. Read more
