Biography

The key attribute of any truly successful artist is the ability to consistently write music of the quality that can shape a career. This doesn’t always come easy but in the case of writer, producer and keyboard player Jonathan Fritzén he makes it appear to be the most natural thing in the world.

His latest album, the delightfully accessible ‘Diamonds’, is a case ... Read more in Amazon's Jonathan Fritzén Store

SmoothJazz.com Review 4 Oct. 2008
By Sandy Shore - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Breezy, sophisticated piano playing and hip, stylish songs -- LOVE BIRDS, the debut from 25-year-old Swede Jonathan Fritzén. The eleven original compositions convey a crisp, signature sound that will introduce this talented recording artist as an instant star. Born in Stockholm to a Swedish mother and an American father, Jonathan grew up in a musical family. On LOVE BIRDS he handles everything... from writing, playing and vocalizing to producing the album. A graduate from the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, Jonathan is one of the first students to receive a Masters Degree from the Jazz dept. With all eyes currently on another Swedish musical sensation (Mama Mia in theaters worldwide) the charismatic young artist has chosen the perfect time to present his LOVE BIRDS. No stranger to fame, the bright-eyed Fritzén has worked on popular TV shows in his homeland and has played with some of the country's biggest stars. When I spoke to Jonathan, I asked what influenced him to write Smooth Jazz and his answer was that he's been listening to SmoothJazz.com since he was teenager! Bob James and Paul Hardcastle fans will be smitten by Fritzén. The tasty "Temple of Dreams" is the first single, but I'm also very fond of the urban groove track "Back 2 The Club," the sensually cinematic, "Midnight Secrets," and the hooky "Like A Star." LOVE BIRDS soars!

I Am Indeed in Love! 13 Sept. 2012
By Deinara - Published on Amazon.com

Of the four albums that Jonathan has released, this one is my very favorite. The opening track "temple of dreams" invites you into this creative experience and you instantly fall in love and eagerly plunge into this melodic maelstrom. I have listened to this song over and over and over at least 100 times the first few days,....what a way to say hello...and he had me!

I have listened to a lot of "smooth jazz" piano over these many decades, and appreciate a variety of today's young artists who do it, but not one of them in my book can compare to Jonathan. I have not been this excited about a jazz pianist since Alex Bugnon! I love music, and listen to many.... but buy very few. I have every record Alex has ever made, and when I heard this CD I knew I would be adding Jonathan's work to my music collection.

My favorite song is every single one on the album, but if it were a matter of "life and death" and I had to choose then I would say the opening ("temple") and closing ("take me home")tracks, simply because that is what they are and that is what they do....Welcome you into this musical experience (and what a welcome!) and leave you desperately wanting more (and more, and more and more!). So artistically clever, and wonderful.

He truly reminds you that the piano is a percussion instrument, and he strikes so very creatively with accuracy and precision. For the title of every song is exactly what it sounds like.... is exactly what the music makes you feel.

Jonathan presents you with the title of the song, and proceeds to play that thematic interpretation. Listeners feel the title and based on their own life experiences...that they write the lyrics. We all get to share a common idea and experience with the artist, and each other, yet a wonderfully different one for each of us.

This CD seems difficult to come by for some reason, but the download is easy. If you like this genre of music you must have this artist in your collection. If you have not been impressed by the genre, give Jonathan a try...I think he can change your mind.

I love this music, and would rate this artistry higher if I could.

This CD turned out to be a pleasant surprise for me. When I first played it I simply could not put it down. Every track is well done. This man has a real gift with the keyboards.

The CD has funk, ballads, uptempto, and charimatic tunes. The music is uplifting and fresh. He has a style all his own. Whenever I put in this CD anyone listening is so enamored that end up in awe. A Great CD for playing anytime.
