LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED is a warm, funny, heartfelt meditation on the birth pangs of starting a new life. Set at a picture-perfect summer wedding in Sorrento, the film stars Pierce Brosnan as Philip, a lonely, middle-aged English widower and estranged single father living in Denmark, and Trine Dyrholm as Ida, a Danish hairdresser recuperating from chemotherapy, who has just learned that her husband is leaving her for a woman half his age from his accounts department. The fates of these two bruised souls intertwine as they embark for Italy to attend the wedding of his son, Patrick, to her daughter, Astrid. The bumpy path towards the union of their children, and the clashes and faux pas of their wedding guests, force Philip and Ida to reevaluate all their notions of family, love and happiness. Filmed on beautiful locations in Italy, LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED is an uplifting tale of love, loss, absurdity and humour that will leave only the hardest heart untouched. It is a film about the simple yet profound pains and joys of moving on - and forward - with your life.

Funny, sweet, yet always classy **** Jason Solomons - The Mail on Sunday

Brosnan delivers every layer of emotion in possibly the richest role of his career **** Trevor Johnston - Time Out

Gloriously enjoyable...packed with humour **** Robbie Collin - The Telegraph.

Dyrholm is a delightful presence...a performance full of warmth and gentle humour . **** Wendy Ide - The Times

Brosnan has never been better **** The Sunday People

Wonderfully romantic **** Easy Living

Please note: To avoid disappointment, please note that this film is a Danish Romantic Comedy, where a over half the dialog is in Danish with English subtitles. You should be comfortable watching some of the film with English subtitles (or be bilingual with Danish and English) to enjoy the full movie experience.

A charming and quirky film with a very absorbing and interesting story line! There are various languages and very clear sub titles where necessary and that in no way intrudes on enjoyment of the film! My husband and I really enjoyed it and recommend it as a really good film with enough twists to keep your interest, not to mention the fabulous Italian scenery which is a joy to watch!

So much enjoyed this wonderful film. I feel so sorry for those sad people who gave it only one star because they were disappointed with some subtitles. The film is in half English and half Danish which is the natural consequence when two families from to different countries meet up for a wedding. What do you expect. The whole world does not speak English! The movie is very well made and covers some serious issues in still manages to be light hearted and funny. I will recommend it to anyone who can read and is not afraid of subtitles!

If you want a romantic comedy with a twist, you are in a much better luck spending you evening in a company of the "European" cinema. Compared to the mediocre attempts at rom-com by the Brits (I refer to I Give It a Year [DVD] [2013], The Knot [DVD]), this Danish production is an indulgence (at least, I promise you will not cringe and recoil from the overused cliché jokes). I enjoyed this film and I feel sorry for the people who offered it only one star as they could not be bothered with subtitles, amazing French, Spanish and Nordic cinematography will be forever lost to them. "Love is All You Need" is in half English and half Danish which is natural, as it is directed by the acclaimed Danish director, Susanne Bier, and it's a story about two families from different sides of the globes, opposite backgrounds and contrary views meet up for a wedding.

Yes, the Scandinavian gloom hangs over the film (but the courage to portray infidelity and cancer survivour in a harsh light of the day is occasionally something that the Hollywood lacks courage to do, and I appreciated it in "Love Is All you Need"). Nevertheless, the southern Italian scenery is picture-perfect: the camera loves then sunsets, full moons and picturesque sea landscapes, and you can practically smell the citrus aroma from the garden of the villa where the wedding is to take place. Moreover, Pierce Brosnan (Philip) and Trine Dyrholm (Ida), playing an unlikely couple to fall in love, have a believable chemistry on screen and are very well-cast.

When I went to see this, I wanted something simple after some of the blockbusters (Les Miserables, Skyfall both of which I enjoyed). I really wasn't expecting too much. The audience were quite lively before the lights went down, but you could hear a pindrop right the way through this film.

Beautiful location, a bit like Mama Mia without the music, but it was interesting to see the sharp contrast between the no nonsense lines of buildings and décor in Denmark, and the lush scenery of Italy. Pierce Brosnan was wonderful, but I really loved Trine Dyrholm's performance. Her wayward husband, Kim Bodnia, was in The Bridge which I enjoyed on TV, should also get a mention as he was such a plonker but played the part very well. The film brings up serious issues but it was never mawkish, in fact, in places it was quite funny. I think the chemistry between Philip (Pierce Brosnan) and Ida (Trine Dyrholm) was palpable

As for the subtitles, I really never noticed them, I do like European films, so subtitles do not bother me. As another reviewer said, English isn't spoken everywhere, so go with it.

Definitely would recommend.

A story about two people estranged in their lives which in-turn centres on the happiness of others.
In parts I found the movie emotionally moving in its perception of how far some people have the ability to retract into their own shell of life.
The story brings together through chance two people adrift on the sea of life - taken for granted by others who think they know them well.
I can understand that some people might find the subject matter boring as there is no violence, sex or action. However, if you like good acting and a bold storyline that bears the soul, then give this a watch.
Personally, I loved the movie as I believe that in the face of adversity many people find their finest hour.

I love this film, at first I thought I wouldn't like the many subtitles that are in it, but to be honest, because of a fair bit of swearing in the film, at those moments I preferred the sub-titles, it didn't seem as bad to hear somehow, in fact it came across quite funny to hear the swearing bits in a foreign language. The scenery is gorgeous, the actors are brilliant, it's just a really nice film to have, one you could watch over and over again
