Advantages:
- Has a good range of basic vocabulary.
- Features clear enunciation at an understandable pace, with each word repeated in both English and German.
- Is accompanied by booklet listing the words and phrases spoken on all tracks.
Disadvantages:
- Only the present infinitive is spoken for each verb (e.g., only 'haben' instead of 'haben, hatte, gehabt').
- No gender/definite article, genitive, or plural is given for any of the nouns.
- The last few tracks consist of basic phrases rather than vocabulary -- if one wants this, a traveller's phrasebook/audio might be more practical (especially since the booklet for this CD is very shoddily written (e.g., 'Lets [sic] go', 'where is good to eat around here', a general lack of other punctuation, many uncapitalised German nouns, etc.).
In sum:
The product is a good idea, but looks hastily compiled and has some serious flaws in presentation (especially the nouns and verbs!).

As some other reviews have noted, this CD does not give the articles/gender of any of the nouns, and without knowing this it is impossible to use them in sentences!
The gender of the article is absolutely vital, and any language teacher will tell you that you must learn the noun and the article together as if they were one word. Without this you cannot speak German.
I seriously wonder why any reputable company would make this mistake, because in its current state the CD is pretty much worthless. I immediately stopped listening to it when I realised, as the last thing you want to do is get the noun in your head without the article. It's a very bad starting point. Do not buy this pointless product!

The nouns have no articles attached (no die/der/das) and no plural form (or where the noun is normally in the plural, no singular). Knowing the gender of each noun is a crucial part of learning German. Presumably this was done to maximize the number of words that could be fitted in, but unfortunately it reduces the value of the product to almost zero. I wouldn't have bought this if I'd have known - I didn't listen to the previews carefully enough to notice. This is guide is better than nothing and fills otherwise dead time spent in the car, but I can't recommend it.
