For the first time anywhere on compact disc, the complete Hickory recordings of Cajun-hillbilly legends Rusty and Doug Kershaw and their close associate Wiley Barkdull. Rusty & Dougs composition Louisiana Man has been recorded several hundred times in the wake of their own 1961 hit version. Their original recording of it is here, along with its almost-as-famous follow up Diggy Liggy Lo and their rockabilly classic Hey Mae (later revived successfully by Shakin Stevens). Their bass-singing, piano-playing compatriot Barkdull is heard on both the Kershaws recordings and his own, which include further rockabilly classics like Aint Gonna Waste My Time and Too Many. With the best-ever sound from only the finest possible sources, this superb 2CD set is a fabulous representation of country music as it evolved from raw 50s hillbilly to the classic early 60s Nashville Sound, with songs by Hank Williams, Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, Billy Deaton, J.D. Miller and the Kershaws themselves.
