More About the Author

Richard Wilkinson has played a formative role in international research and his work has been published in 10 languages. He studied economic history at the London School of Economics before training in epidemiology and is Professor Emeritus at the University of Nottingham Medical School and Honorary Professor at University College London.

Product Description

'Wilkinson's prose is vigorous, direct, and often very funny (particularly at the expense of bishops). There is not a dull page in the book. At the same time, its purpose is entirely serious... There could scarcely be a better way of drawing the non-specialist reader into the intricate world of seventeenth-century France' History Review

About the Author

Richard Wilkinson gained his doctorate at Cambridge and was Headmaster of Scarborough College and King Edward’s school, Witley. Now retired, he teaches history at Marlborough College summer school. His previous publications include Louis XIV , France and Europe 1661-1715 (2002) and Years of Turmoil (1999).

I read a lot of biography and I enjoyed this book. Could have done without the headings though. But a good read all the same

My son actually ordered this, it was one of his required reading for college. Better deal than either of the college bookstores, and it came super quick. So fast and easy. Great way to get your books for school as well as for fun.
