Product Description
Early Romantic songs for soprano and guitar, a combination which seems unusual nowadays, but was very popular in its time, and used by famous composers such as Berlioz and notably Schubert. The music of Spohr is of high quality, both intellectually and emotionally (unlike some other protagonists of the Mannheim School...). His concertos for violin and clarinet still hold repertoire and his music is deservedly becoming better known. These songs are wonderfully written for the voice, with the natural feeling for melody of Schubert, to the valuable and equal accompaniment of the guitar. World premieres. Booklet offers liner notes and the sung texts in German.
