Product Description

This guide is aimed at those developers taking the Lotus Notes certification exam. It includes examples, practice questions and solutions.

From the Publisher

Let the authors' experience work for you!
With the explosion of Lotus Notes in recent years, the demand for qualified Notes professionals has skyrocketed. The Lotus Notes Certified Professional program provides individuals the recognition that is demanded by companies that use or are planning to deploy a Lotus Notes network. Until now, there has been no publication available to prepare individuals striving to obtain certification - only expensive classes.

The LOTUS NOTES CERTIFICATION EXAM GUIDE: Application Development and System Administration helps readers know what areas to study, and provides hundreds of sample questions - plus 7 sample exams on the companion CD-ROM - that cover every aspect of the exam. Using this book as a guide, test-takers can master the material quickly, easily, and independently - without the hassle of a prep course.

The LOTUS NOTES CERTIFICATION EXAM GUIDE contains comprehensive reviews for the two core Lotus Notes version 4 certification examinations. These include Notes Application Development and Notes System Administration.

Written by two leading Lotus Notes professionals, this is the most complete and effective Lotus Notes preparation available. The authors share insiders' hints and shortcuts, trouble spots to avoid, design issues, the points to master, and special tips to help readers ace the exam.

Very useful book 20 Nov 2000

Format:Hardcover
Having struggled through SA1 with a previous course book (a retake was required) I purchased this book on holiday in Sydney. I subsequently sailed through AD1 & SA2 at the first time of asking. The only problem was having to cover the answers when reading the chapter-end questions!

Clear, concise, to the point... I used this book for each and all 4 CLS/CLP exams and I can safely say I would never have passed without the precious help from this book. If I ever meet the authors I'll give them a warm handshake !

I was already a CLP & CLI (since R3), but bought the book for one of my colleagues who was starting to follow the R4 CLP track in order to become a CLI (Certified Lotus Instructor). I bought it on recommendation from one of my students, having first browsed through his copy.

The colleague concerned passed AD1, SA1 & AD2 all first time. However he narrowly failed SA2, and I would criticise the lack of detail on that area - it had approximately only 60 pages on that exam, compared to over 200 for SA1.

I thought the format was excellent, very readable with good examples, and it covered all the exam topics, especially stressing those such as Shared Mail, which was a new feature to R4 Sys. Admin, but not covered in the equivalent authorised Lotus course since the course changed to cover R4.5 (exam is on R4).

I liked the practice tests in the book, but had just one niggle. The answers were visible along with the questions, so you had to cover them over as you went along. It would have been better if the answers had been in the back of the book.

I thought the tests on the CD were excellent - the closest thing I've come across to the "real thing", both in level of difficulty and the phrasing of the questions. One small niggle again: Unlike the Sylvan Test and other practice tests, you had to check the answer to each question as you answered it, rather than giving you the facility to take the test "blind" and get a score at the end.

Overall, I would strongly recommend the book as an aid to passing the exams, but not as a "teach yourself" book - which it is not intended to be.
