5.0 out of 5 stars All Killer, no filler 22 May 2010
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This solo album from Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr is without doubt better than 90% of the dross out
there. Superb songs and production, make this stand out, with each track revealing hidden depth, with
repeated plays. No point naming standout tracks,as the whole album is incredibly strong, with sublime
melodies, and Jim's distinctive vocal's. The lyric's are back to his best, with cryptic, hidden meanings
similar to early Minds.

I would never have thought he would do a solo album as good as this, and he seems to be flowing with ideas
at the moment. Sadly apart from Simple Minds fans, the album will probably be ignored, but he should take pride
in the fact, that the people who do buy it, will be musically educated, and in years to come, will be
looked upon as being a minor classic. Thanks Jim for one of the year's best suprises.

4.0 out of 5 stars A contemporary 80s sound 18 May 2010
By Logan 5
Format:Audio CD
Dare I say that it could be better than Graffiti Soul? But then it might be unfair to compare it to the last Simple Minds album as this is Jim Kerr going solo with Jez Coad on guitar and producing.
On some of the tracks the sound is reminiscient of early Simple Minds (Think, Sister Feelings Call).
Overrall, the album is full of energy: Mel Gaynor beating out the drum sounds, atmospheric guitars with a nostalgic 80s sound and soaring synths.
The most accessible tracks are the single: "Shadowland" and the free download on the Lostboy website: "Refugee" but with repeated listening you can start to appreciate the other tracks.
Definitely something for Simple Minds fans and anyone who enjoys a blend of classic 80s with the contemporary.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jim 16 May 2010
By 80s fan
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I love Simple Minds from New gold Dream to present. I knew Jim Kerr's single project would not disapoint me. This venture is maybe a bit self indulgent on his part, but why not. I think SM early sound can be heard, plus a Bowie influence, but also SMs distinct sound and Jims poetic, hidden depth lyrics. I cannot say if others will enjoy this, but I would think, loyal SM fans certainly will. Long live Simple Minds. Well done Jim.

Really good album to listen to. Enjoyed Remember Asia most. Like most of his or Simple Minds albums, this one is another impressive progression from the last album.

3.0 out of 5 stars Jim Kerr's authentic voice
His album is a perfect way to underlign his vocal talents. The songs do remind you of his "Simple Minds" history which cannot be any surprise at all.
