During World War II, Navy Lt. Neil Thomas bids his pregnant young wife, Caroline, farewell at Union Station. But even before their son is born, Neil's plane goes down in the Pacific and he's declared missing in action. Caroline is devastated. Neil was Caroline's one great love... and for the next 65 years Caroline (Betty White) returns to Union Station on the anniversary of the day they said goodbye forever (Valentine's Day), to salute the memory of her brave and beloved husband. Eventually, a TV journalist (Jennifer Love Hewitt) learns of the touching story and sets out to investigate just what happened to Neil during the war. Neil and Caroline's grandson encourages his initially-reluctant grandmother to cooperate; the TV reporter and the grandson fall in love themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moving 22 Aug 2012
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Some may see this as a soft Sunday afternoon film, personally I found it moving and remarkably gut reaching.

It has its Hollywood extras but was well thought out, Betty White really does at times give the feeling she really did loose a loved one like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Story with wonderful values 22 Dec 2012
Format:DVD
Once again Hallmark has produced a film that takes you away from the stresses and strains of modern living and brings you a world full of meaning, the bonds of love and all those good old fashioned values, that we all understand but seldom fulfill.

This wonderful love story, while hardly plausible in real life, is superbly crafted with Betty White giving a really poignant performance and well supported by the rest of the cast. Ladies, this film is also a tear jerker and even brought a tear to my eye. However, this film is no Hollywood sentimental hogwash, it is wonderfully crafted and i was totally absorbed by it as was my wife, who normally does not like Hollywood's sentimental films.

It also brings to your attention the uplifting values that occurred during World War 2 with a heartwarming story.

If you like excellent film making and like me want to escape occasionally the shallowness of modern day living but are also shown how all this new technology can be used in an uplifting way, then DO NOT MISS THIS FILM.

Long may Hallmark continue to bring us television movies that are full of meaning, character, home values and good, clean old fashioned entertainment. These days they are few and far between, so enjoy them while you can.
