4.0 out of 5 stars The Final Roundup 10 Aug 2005
By A Customer
There has been much lamenting about the fact that the transfer of the final season of LIS is less sharp then hoped for - and, in truth, this IS the case with this set. Certain of the episodes are a bit more blurred than we'd hoped for. However, if you first saw these stories during their initial run in the late sixties, I don't think you'll find too much to grumble about here.
Instead rejoice in the fact that after Season Two - (which was basically "Zachary's Space Camp") - the rest of the family occasionally get a look in, rather than than the ever-present trio of Dr Smith/Will (the always brilliant Billy Mumy) and the Robot.
More zany stories - including such delights as the celebrated "Great Vegetable Rebellion" - and outlandish nonsense, culminating in "The Promised Planet" - probably the first "hommage to hippy culture" of the 20th century.
A box of delights - that every spaced-out SF freak should own.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sorry poor film transfer for 3rd season episodes 25 April 2005
I have been a fan of lis for over 30 years and have never seen such bad copies issued for dvd ever.
The 3rd season of this show is one of the best remembered for the opening titles with the new music by John Willams now I Know about the Television Transfers there are better copies around for the 3rd season of this show.

I must say that fox uk have tried their best but I could have done better the prints that are on this set are out of focus
and very soft on the eye it is not the film stock when the series was made it was on 35mm and as sharp as you can get.

I would advise fox to withdraw these copies and to reissue them with more care.

Lost In Space Will Be 40 years old this year

This set has been retailed at £49.99 in the high street

I am about half way through this third season and have found the stories, performances and production values are as good if not better than the two previous sets ..in other words this third season is great !....but the bad news and the reason I havent given this set the 5 stars it should have is that the picture is a bit below standard ..its not as good as the previous sets ...frankly I think there has been a mistake made somewhere in the transfer to disc..the previous sets had that slighly soft focus effect you get with sixties stuff but this fault seems like a slight double image to everthing..middle shots are most affected ...close ups are more or less ok ..On the seventh story (I think ) ..the fault disappears for 10 or 15 minutes and the picture is glorious !...I dont want to put people off buying this great set just be aware that picture quality isnt quite as good as the two previous sets ...
