4.0 out of 5 stars Good but predictable 9 May 2013
By Beanie Luck Spud TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This book was like chocolate for my brain, once i had started it, i just wanted more.

Cait gets a case, body found inside the wall of a hotel, a bit confusing though considering the victim disappeared only days before, but her remains are over 30 years old.

Cait realises after some investigation that they are dealing with demonic posession and a succubus in different time zones in the same portal.

Sam and cait have an interesting time of it in this book and something tragic happens which shocked me but then cait puts it all to rights.

It was a little similar to book one, and im not entirely convinced that this is it for the series.

I enjoyed the spells and gettign cait back to old fashioned spell casting because after all she is a witch.

Jason is in this too, although im not entirely sure what he brings to the table as cait and sam do all the work.

An alliance with eddie seems interesting to follow up on and maybe a partnership in the cards somewhere down the line ?

I read in another review that the author has put a stop to the series now which seems an incredible shame because i would like to catch up with cait and sam and that house a few years down the line to see what has happened to them.

A good read but disappointing that its not continuing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Paranormal Adventure 27 April 2013
By Wendy Jones TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I don't usually read paranormal books but this one looked good so I thought I would give it a go. This is the second in a series about Caitlyn O'Connel a witch turned PI. It is also the story of the on off romance between her and Sam Pierce her ex Husband. This book moves along at a cracking pace and has enough twists and turns to keep the reader interested. The characters are portrayed realistically making the reader feel that they are real people. They ave their own foibles and demons but you cannot help liking them. If you like paranormal romances then I could highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Tell Hell Hotel 3 Sep 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This series must be read in order. The first book is Shattered Souls (A Caitlyn O'Connell Novel). This is the second book.

Cait has issues. She tried to turn her back on her heritage and her powers after her mother's untimely death due to a botched spell. Not that that really worked... She became cop and everything seemed fine apart from the fact that she got all the "full moon cases" and life was looking up until she needed alcohol to dull the voices of the dead... She lost her job and her husband but eventually she found her way back to her roots... Now the police consult with her on "full moon" cases and she's sober and trying to date her ex... Hopeful that the future will be better. Being a PI is less stress than being a cop. So what if she has to help a ghost or two now and then? She is trying to live an authentic and centered life. Will Sam ever be truly hers again? Will she and Jason survive their next case? Why is she working with the cops even when she knows how they really feel about her? Will she ever be able to trust her teacher Morrin again?

Sam loves Cait bit hates the way she excludes him from parts of her life. Like she is trying to protect him?! He hates working with her because she keeps him out of the loop half the time and takes stupid risks. One of these days one of them is gonna end up dead... Especially as now HE is catching all the "full moon" cases and they are forced to partner on them. He is putting faith in her and trusting her... But also watching for her to slip up again. Is Cait ever going to completely open up to him? Or will she always be keeping secrets? He knows her world exists now so why would she even try?!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant sequel to Shattered Souls 13 July 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end; fast paced, great spooky tale and above all I love the main protagonists Cait and ex-husband/current lover Sam Pierce. These two have amazing chemistry and the author does a great job portraying their tormented and intense relationship from when they first met on the job, fell in love and the subsequent breakdown of their marriage caused by Cait's inability to handle her magic/spirit/psychic side, which drove her to heavy drinking and shutting Sam out. But fear not as this is true love, and in this 2nd book Cait will stop at nothing to keep Sam in her life, even at great risk to herself. There are quite a few hot bedroom scenes involving these two, but written in a way that highlights their intense love and physical attraction to each other.

Magician/psychic Morin features again in this story and ultimately plays a pivotal role in helping Cait when tragedy strikes, despite his own not so secret feelings for her. Police boss Leland is a funny character, who despite being pissed off at Cait most of the time shows his compassionate side when all seems lost for our heroine. There are also other great secondary characters including Sylvia (a ghost) and an interesting development with Eddie, an incubus.

I recommend this book wholeheartedly but would advise to start by reading Shattered Souls first, as this book will make much more sense afterwards.
