Product Description

The first 12 episodes from the first season of the hugely popular drama series following a group of people who are lost on a faraway desert island after their plane crashes. Stripped of everything, the 48 survivors scavenge what they can from the plane for their survival. Some panic. Some pin their hopes on rescue. A few find inner-strength they never knew they had. Kate (Evangeline Lilly), with no medical training, suddenly finds herself suturing the doctor's wounds. Hurley (Jorge Garcia) - a man with a warm sense of humour despite the desperate situation - does his best to keep his cool as he helps those around him to survive. Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) is a faded rock star who harbours a painful secret. Sayid (Naveen Andrews) is a Middle Eastern man and former member of the Elite Republican Guard, who must wrestle with the racial profiling directed at him by some of his fellow survivors. Jin (Daniel Dae Kim) and Sun (Kim Yun-jin) are a Korean couple whose traditions, values and language are foreign and thus causes much to get lost in the translation. Sawyer (Josh Holloway) has an air of danger surrounding him, and his intense sense of mistrust for everyone around him could prove to be fatal to his fellow castaways. Michael (Harold Perrineau) has just gained custody of his nine-year-old son, Walt (Malcolm David Kelley), after the death of his ex-wife - they are a father and son who don't even know each other. Locke (Terry O'Quinn) is a mysterious man who keeps to himself, and who harbours a deeper connection to the island than any of the others. And self-centered Shannon (Maggie Grace) - who actually gives herself a pedicure amid the chaos - and her estranged controlling brother, Boone (Ian Somerhalder) - constantly bicker and must learn to get along if they are to survive. Episodes comprise: 'Pilot (Parts 1 & 2)', 'Tabula Rasa', 'Walkabout', 'White Rabbit', 'House Of The Rising Sun', 'The Moth', 'Confidence Man', 'Solitary', 'Raised By Another', 'All The Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues' and 'Whatever The Case May Be'.

1.0 out of 5 stars Once again, UK customers are ripped off 26 Sep 2005
If you're reading this, you'll probably know what the show is all about - if you don't, where have you been? In a black hole?

The general premise of the show is that 48 or so people (although a select few feature more heavily than others) become trapped on an as yet unknown island when their plane mysteriously runs into trouble and crashes. The survivors must band together if they want to survive long enough to be rescued, or at least to figure out where they are and what is going on. It is something like a cross between one of those (terrible) reality game shows and Lord of the Flies, although it is interesting and entertaining in it's own right as there is a story behind each of the characters, which I am led to believe is building up to something big. It's one of the best shows to appear on televison for a while, featuring superb acting and impressive visuals and a story that should keep you hungry for more.

To date, I am around 10 episodes in and enjoying it immensely, so much so that I was hoping to invest in the box set when released, to catch bits I didn't get the first time round and to see some of the extras that haven't make it to the final cut, to pad the story out more. When I heard that the UK set was being released in 2 parts, at a cost of 25 quid each (more in shops), I was far from happy. My friend recently ordered and received a region 1 set, which contains all 24 episodes plus a wealth of extra features for £30, and if you shop around you can probably get it for less.

5 stars for the show, nothing for this below-the-belt boxset. Do yourself a favour, if you want this, buy the region 1 version, and enjoy watching the show all the more thinking about the money you've saved.

"The customer is always right."

5.0 out of 5 stars Lost: Season 1 18 Oct 2005
Well no doubting the fact this was one of the television highlights of 2005.
I am lucky enough to have the complete Series one which I have recently finished.
However, do yourself a favour, save some money and buy the complete box set from America for the same price as the first half!
The second half of the season is stronger. We learn more about the characters, but be warned few questions are answered and more are created.
A very clever, interesting drama. Buy it now, but buy it in full!!
