Book Description

2 April 2009 Juicy Living Series
International Internet guru Lilou, a.k.a. 'Big L', believes that we can create anything we want using the power of our thoughts (as revealed in The Secret). Drawn to the USA from France, she used this law, called the Law of Attraction, to co-found the '100-Day Reality Challenge' community, build a following of thousands of YouTubers, and meet Oprah Winfrey, someone she greatly admires. Now she's in London and she's lost her job. The time has come to test her beliefs to the limit: at a time of global crisis can she use the Law of Attraction to find her dream job, and thereby 'empower millions' to do likewise? This is her 30-day stream-of-consciousness diary, from the moment she was sacked. Travel with her as she grapples with doubt, relishes avocados and finds something to be grateful for in each and every step of her journey. Deploying a battery of mood-shifting, life-enhancing, and possibly reality-changing techniques, she attempts to prove to herself - and to you! - that a juicier way of living is possible. While 30-something Lilou would probably get on with the fictional Bridget Jones, her real-life diary is a very different thing. Humble, moving, funny and perceptive, it demonstrates the style of leadership she believes the world desperately needs. If Lilou's approach works, this book might just be The Survival Guide for Our Times, and she the spokesperson of a revolution. Read it, and, most importantly, try it out!

Congratulations Lilou on showing us how an internet marketeer works in practice. No doubt you have succeeded in your aim of driving traffic to your youtube videos, online community and websites where you make money as well as through selling this book. However, if you are buying this book feeling it will inspire you in your jobhunt you're going to be very disappointed. What Lilou doesn't make apparent (unless you read carefully at certain points) is that being made redundant only took away one of her income streams. Unless you recognise this you may well be confused as to why somebody newly redundant would move into a better flat, upgrade to a more expensive gym, spend a cheque she receives on extravagant computer equipment rather than bills and would turn down a £3k assignment. You may also wonder how she has so many contacts in publishing etc. A bit of research reveals that she was a self-employed internet marketer for many years in the USA, had her own tv station there and continues to interview self help authors as part of her income streams. If you're a fan of the laws of attraction then you may enjoy this. Otherwise if you want to see how to play the new social media marketing game in action this will certainly prove the point. But personally I found the constant repetition monotonous, the lack of any real content extremely disappointing, the book poor value for money and I do find it rather unethical to market this to the unemployed, hence 1 star.

1.0 out of 5 stars Self Proclaimed Guru 24 April 2011
By Tim
Format:Paperback
This is a great example of a person that is a self proclaimed guru or as she calls herself an International Internet guru. You should really put great notice in those words because this is really what this book is about.

The other 1 star reviewer said everything perfectly and he is right. I am just sorry that I didn't listen to him and bought the book anyway because this book really haven't helped me that is unemployed on my 7th month. She makes a living by being part of a Syndicate (no mafia thing) but it means that she is an affiliate that makes money by giving reviews. She calls this a "help" which it is but the purpose is that both she and the guy she makes the review for will make money. This is done by her having well above 16.000 subscribers on her YouTube which means 16.000 potential costumers to the book she reviews and say is fantastic. This is great marketing and this book is part of that business.

This book is unrealistic and will not provide you anything you haven't already read if you own a book on positive thinking. I say unrealistic because when she lost her job she already had another job that paid her well enough to make a living so she has never experienced what I go through now. She is just a girl that likes the topic from The Secret and now she wants to make some money from it too. I suggest that those people who consider buying something about law of attraction just go to the main source and get advice from those that really knows what they are talking about. This book does a bad job at explaining things.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new take on a common theme 18 Oct 2011
By Tootles
Format:Paperback
I have really enjoyed reading this book! I saved the last few pages for a few days because I didn't want it to end!

This is not your standard how-to-find-a-job kind of book. It will not give you hints and tips about interview techniques or how to write your CV.

This book is a journey about how to cultivate the right mind-set to allow yourself to create the job of your dreams. It's a personal journey of how Lilou set about using some practices she has learned to help her step out of the way our culture insists that we fit into a certain box and become a robot to earn money. She has allowed herself to explore what's possible when we use our mind in a positive way to create what we want from our lives. I found this inspiring and full of great hints, tips and places to look for more information. Thank you Lilou!
