So If you've made it to season 4 you have presumably bought into the idea of Lost Girl. Sure, the show is over dramatic and can have a relaxed view to plot lines, but it's good fun! That aside, on to season 4...

There is definite feel that this season could have benefited from a more rigid storyline. At times I thought I must have missed episodes or not been paying attention, only for whatever the issue was to be clumsily wrapped up in the last 5 minutes of the episode, effectively destroying the dramatic climax. Often a whole episode will seem to have very little to do with progressing the plot, and characters seem to have very little direction. This is particularly annoying as we have spent the past three seasons getting behind the characters developing relationships (Dyson vs. Lauren) and there are times when it feels like this is not moving one way or the other.
Like I said, Lost Girl does tend to stray from the plot, but it has become more apparent this season.

On the other hand, the characters remain likeable and Lost Girl maintains its quirky, tongue-in-cheek approach which makes the show what it is. Like previous seasons, this will have you laughing out loud at some parts and crying at others. If you are a fan of Lost Girl, it is still definitely worth a viewing.

The show definitely has potential - hopefully season 5 will bring a bit more direction to the story and it can return to its former glory.

I stumbled over LOST GIRL by accident last year and was hooked instantly, dropping DEXTER and SONS OF ANARCHY after only one season in favor for this one.
Although overall more a 4 star series, since the show sometimes gets a bit too corny for my taste and some of the fey are a bit whacky to say the least, you rarely get a show with so many GREAT and loveable characters. The main cast, including Anna Silk, Ksenia Solo, Chris Holden-Ried, Richard Howland, K.C. Collins and Zoie Palmer are just so well cast and loveable. Still the best addition to the series came in the Third Season in the form of Tamsin (Rachel Skarsten). Great cameos by Linda Hamilton, Mia Kirshner and George Takei.
Things come together in this season and in a great way. Where TRUE BLOOD just literally sucked after season 2, LOST GIRL gets better and better with each season and I like how things have unfolded till now. There are some very unexpected twists which are well executed.
Although considered an "adult version of Buffy" make no mistake - this is still a syndicated tv show, so the violence/gore/sex is still in the teen section and nothing to get too excited by. No SPARTACUS violence, no excessive nudity and nothing like TRUE BLOOD.
Definitely one of the best series currently out there. Highly recommended.

In the beginning, Lost Girl was a fairly interesting series but Season Four shows that it has now run out of steam. The writing and direction are woefully inconsistent and much of the season-long story arc feels like it was made up as they went along. There is a lot more dialogue than action and much of that dialogue is repetitive and banal. There are fewer sex scenes than before - displays of flesh seem to be largely replaced by innuendo. Each episode runs for about forty minutes but frequently seem longer than that. There seems to be an excess of padding throughout the season. Just as the main plot begins to gather pace, it is put on hold for a totally superfluous episode about mermaids. A supposedly humorous episode about an alternative Christmas is a prime example of lazy and sloppy production. When the climax finally comes, it drags on and on until you end up shouting "Get on with it!" at the screen. In the midst of a fierce battle, Dyson and Kenzi pause to have a conversation while crazed zombies rampage all around them. Bo never seems to be where she is needed most. And no one seems able to decide what to do with the character of Trick. In the end, I felt more sympathy for the Morrigan than any of the other characters.

The performances are almost universally unconvincing. Anna Silk's ample cleavage is on permanent display but the rest of her characterization is decidedly flat. In fact, things often seem livelier when she is not onscreen. Sometimes the relationships between the characters make the show feel more like a soap than a fantasy. Most of the characters are in love with someone they cannot have and several of them behave like teenagers experiencing their first crush. Even Kenzi has lost her sparkle. Sometimes major characters are absent for entire episodes.
