Brilliant,

A must for anyone over 40, and even younger - most entertaining and easy to read or just dip into occasionally.

WORST BOOK I HAVE EVER SEEN PUBLISHED!,
By Labeque fan "pisces" (Wales) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lost English: Words and Phrases That Have Vanished from Our Language (Hardcover)
Just to warn other people, this book has to be the worst book I have ever had the misfortune to pick up! How it ever got published is totally beyond me. It has nil content - absolutely awful! Dolly bird, doodlebug & nosy parker are probably the best entries...
This has been much much better done by Foyle's Philavery & Further Philavery - far superior. I doubt if even a charity shop could be persuaded to take it off my hands...appalling, & to be avoided at all costs by any intelligent person.

This is a lovely gift book. I gave a copy to both my mother and mother in law and they both love it. We all really enjoyed the illustrations but the illustrator is not credited. I will do some research and find out!
