Book Description

16 Jan 2014 Templars 8

The latest rip-roaring adventure thriller from Paul Christopher featuring John Holliday and his search for the Templar Order.

Retired Army Ranger turned historian John Holliday has thwarted the plots of Rex Deus, the twenty-first-century incarnation of the Templars, all over the world. Now, the lost journal of explorer Percy Fawcett leads Holliday deep into the South American jungles on a quest to uncover the greatest mystery of the Middle Ages ...

Trailed by an infamous tomb raider and menaced by a tribe of hostile natives, Holliday and his crew uncover a five-hundred-year-old society hidden in the cauldron of the Amazon. Descendants of the Templar Knights, they exist for one reason: to hide and protect the holy artefact taken from the original Temple of Jerusalem by the first Templars: the legendary Ark of the Covenant. Will Holliday's obsession with the truth finally kill him?

Lost City of the Templars is Paul Christopher's latest action-packed conspiracy thriller that will take readers to the heart of an ancient secret society.

Paul Christopher is the pseudonym of a bestselling US novelist who lives in the Great Lakes region.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pure Escapism 21 April 2014
By J. Chippindale TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
I too, like many of the other reviewers have read all of the books in this series which began in 2009 with The Sword of the Templars, (Book 1) and there is no doubt about it they are written as pure escapism. The sort of book that takes very little thought or concentration from the reader but no less enjoyable because of that. They are perfect for reading on holiday, or while waiting at an airport or on a train journey, situations where the surrounding distractions would make reading a more serious book difficult, or at least less enjoyable. There are times when an hour or two immersed in an improbable and far-fetched adventure is just what the doctor ordered.

I do however agree with other reviewers that the books are not long enough and are not good value for money. They are certainly longer than a short story but nowhere near the length of the average novel. In fact my copy of this book was even printed in larger type than normal. A ploy to make the reader think the book was actually longer than it really was? Possibly.

The book is enjoyable without being up there with the best novels of this type (and there are plenty of those). The main character, retired Army Ranger, John Holliday is depicted as what could probably best be described as a modern day Indiana Jones. Flying to all points of the globe, solving mysteries and righting the wrongs perpetrated by the Knights Templar and their living descendants. Also in these books the Templar Knights are certainly shown in a different light to how history normally portrays these men, synonymous with the Crusades and the fight for the Holy Land.

Light reading and enjoyable, but a very strange ending.

All the reviews seem to be making a point about all of the other books by this author without reviewing this one in depth.

After reading all 8 books and coming to terms with Paul Christopher's writing style, which at sometimes is a bit rushed, to finish the eighth leaving us hanging and not another book in sight is frustrating, good reads though

As usual this story was as brilliant as the others in the series. I hope there is another book to follow and I will certainly read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great reading 5 May 2014

This book fails to disappoint! Best to start at the beginning of the series. My only problem? They seem to get shorter with each new one! Probably because the continuing tale makes compulsive reading and it is hard to put the book down.
