When Matt sees his own initials - ML - on a roadside shrine he feels spooked. New to the area, he has just made friends with Robbo and Tig who blame a local farmer for killing Martin Lloyd, the original teenage ML. When Robbo and Tig ask Matt to help them punish the farmer,Matt feels uneasy, but also tempted to help. Isn't this what Martin, whose body he sometimes feels he inhabits, wants him to do? Would carrying out Martin's wishes bring them both peace? Doubts arise when he meets the farmer, and old man and a ghostly dog. Suddenly life is more complicated and much weirder than Matt could ever have thought possible. Realistic characters and setting make this spooky story utterly believable and thoroughly gripping.

This is something of a ghost story. Matt has moved to the Welsh book town of Hay on Wye, and is cycling one spring day when he realises he has misjudged his speed and the road and is about to career out in front of an oncoming landrover. He closes his eyes... and minutes later finds he is fine and indeed that no such landrover went past. What is more, he is by a roadside memorial to someone with his own initials.

The mystery deepens and issues of friendship, bullying, family, and grief are intertwined in an enchanting tale that is well worth the time spent reading it.

A wonderful book. 31 May 2007
Format:Paperback
I'm a junior high student and I used this book as my novel study. It's a very touching story about a boy with such a unique personality. Very suspensful and unsuspected twist near the end. I loved it, and the plot is very good to make a novel study on. One of the best.
