Product Description

Product Description

Are you interested in how faith is lost from a psychological or philosophical perspective? Psychology has woefully neglected faith loss, and religion in general. This research work was created by Steve Antony Williams in 1999, and is now updated for 2011.

The book, albeit short, does give an incredible insight into the processes which cause people to lose their religious faith. Based on qualitative research of interviews of research participants see how we lose faith, and gain an insight into the human perspective on faith in general.

Please note the book does contain some bad language, and is not recommended if easily offended. Christians may also find the book disturbing, as it deals with a subject area they may find difficult to "deal with".

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and easy to read 1 Sep 2011
Well worth a read for anyone interested in the subject and surely useful for anyone researching the subject I would gladly recommend it.

Was thought provoking and prompted lots of questions in my mind, and though not written for the purpose, I would have thought it could be a really useful tool to provoke discussion in Bible studies.

It was depressing to realise that there are still churches that seem to discourage or fear the questioning of your faith or the churches' teachings - I would have thought that questioning things is a really elemental and positive way of understanding and developing faith (or deciding it's not for you). Certainly worked for me and is definitely Biblical!

A brief but thought provoking discourse providing a fascinating insight into how people explain losing faith in their religion. One particular highlight are the words of the participant known as 'Mavis'(although all participants' names were changed to maintain anonymity). Well worth a couple of quid of anyone's money. Informative and entertaining, especially when Mavis refers to a leading figure in religion as 'a bit of a duffer'. You'll have to read it to find out who.

Written by a once devout religious person...brought up in the church, became a minister, and a 'born again Christian' but
finally came to the conclusion that there was so much wrong with the Bible and how it had been manipulated over the
2000 years or more, he saw the light and backed science which was not hearsay and which could be backed up with
proof about evolution etc. A sensible read written with no bitterness.
