5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it, but short 27 Jan 2013
By Willow
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I started this book this morning and just couldn't put it down. It is quite short and that is my only negative - I wish it was much longer because I just Loved the characters. Bliss was funny and I liked her a lot. Usually the h usually does something that has me frustrated or annoys me, but not Bliss, I would love to read more about her. I do love a good bad boy and have read a lot of books about them lately but Garrick isn't one (well unless you count wanting to have a relationship with a student of his ;-) ) but I still found him incredibly loveable. Although this book isn't very angsty, there is a misunderstanding and another potential relationship, along with Bliss' conflicted feelings to keep it an interesting read.

LOVED IT and will definitely be looking for more books from this author - Cora please just make them a little longer next time to prolong my enjoyment!

4.0 out of 5 stars Gives me hope for New Adult Fiction 23 May 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Losing It is the story of Bliss, a senior in College, studying Theatre, who happens to be a virgin. Bliss in a moment of madness/honesty/whatever admits to her best friend Kelsey that she still hasn't cashed in her V card. Kelsey immediately makes it her mission in life to get Bliss to sacrifice her virtue and...Okay I said I wouldn't complain but this is my ONE major gripe. What is it about NA books that they always have this idiot best friend who is like "Oh just do it already!" without any concern for their best friend's mental, physical, emotional health? While Kelsey is the one predictable part of the NA formula found in this book, Carmack quickly adds a depth to her I haven't come across in other NA novels filling me with delight and did I mention gives me hope?

Bliss was without a doubt my favourite character. Intelligent, sweet, caring, the dice just happened to roll a certain way and she's finds herself in her twenties, virginity still in tact. Her fear of the unknown is palpable. With pretty much any experience the older you get, the harder it is to take the plunge - be it driving, swimming, sex. Thinking with your head is what we are taught will help us make the "right" choices, get the right job, get the house, the good life. But it's the heart that leads to happiness and freedom. When Bliss meets Garrick she momentarily forgets her head but it quickly muscles its way back into power

When Bliss makes the decision to go with her gut we get to see the seeds of her risk flower into a wonderful, sweet and caring relationship but not without some hilarious moments. I won't spoil it but I have never read a book where a cat has been used to such comedic effect.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mesmerizing 27 Aug 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
A lovely light-hearted novel about a seemingly impossible love. Bliss is determined to lose her virginity on a night out, but when the situation arises she quickly chickens out. To her embarrassment the man she had left naked in her bed 8 hours earlier is her new English professor. Despite the awkwardness and illegality of it all, both characters fall madly in love and embark on a whirlwind romance. I would definitely recommend this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good read 11 Feb 2014

I know what I'm about to say appears in most of my reviews on here but it just has to be said...again! This book is brilliant! I obviously have great taste when it comes to picking books? Either that or I'm just easily pleased :)

I've read a few books covering the whole student/teacher forbidden love and this is defiantly on par with `When summer ends' which is another fab story covering this tricky subject. I was completely drawn into the story and instantly fell in love with both Bliss and Garrick. The fact that Garrick is British was an added bonus, although, I don't think us Brits call people `love' as much as Garrick does? But hey ho, maybe he's from somewhere a bit posher than me :p

Bliss is a college student in her final months at school but she's also hiding a big secret from her friends...she's still a virgin. She decides it's time to get rid of her v plates and hits a bar with her best friend Kelsey on a man hunt...cue Garrick! After an instant attraction and a few drinks for dutch courage, Bliss goes home with him. Sparks fly between them but before anything else can happen, Bliss bottles it and makes a quick exit after using some lame excuse about her sick cat (be prepared for a laugh out loud moment). The next morning Bliss just wants to forget the whole thing and clings onto the hope that she'll never bump into the gorgeous guy she left in her bed the night before! Little does she know that this is only just the beginning...the next day at school during her theatre class, in walks Garrick as her new teacher! AHHHH!

Before discovering `Losing it' I'd never come across anything by Cora Carmack but I will defiantly be looking out for other books by her. I know she's continued this series but focusing on other characters from the book and I will be purchasing my next instalment very soon! I would defiantly recommend this book - go by it now :)

I really enjoyed this story.
Bliss is a 23 year old(virginal) theatre student. Carrick is her teacher, although they are a similar age. I loved the naughty sneaking around and wondering whether they would get caught but what I really liked was the sweet, slow burn attraction they have for one another. Bliss is the narrator and she's a little zany and lacks a mouth filter so there are lots of laugh out loud moments too.
A really good low angst read. Recommended.
