Reading this book helps you understand that this isn't a black-and-white issue. There are many reasons for the loss. This book also shows that no matter how far away you get from God, he is still pursuing you to come back. Not all the interviews are positive, the church takes a lot of the blame. We need to stop being hypercritical of other people and get ourselves sorted out first.

I really loved this book. The church puts so much effort into evangelistic crusades, but who notices those who come to church for years, and then quietly walk away? The author meets with those who have lost faith for a variety of reasons, and he reconts their stories with compassion and insight. I was facsinated by the myriad different ways people get disillusioned.
I find some Christian books a bit dense or badly written at times, but this was very accessible.
Definitely recommended! Buy one for your pastor too...
