Last Clansman, 24 May 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Lore Bringer (Last Clansman) (Paperback)
Being an ardent fan of Miller Lau's I couldn't wait for the final book
of her trilogy to be published. Lore Bringer was every bit as good as
the other two, keeping my interest right through to the last page - I
couldn't put it down.
Miller introduces her new characters in original ways and you learn to
love them and empathise with each character, yet at the same time the
established characters - Talisker and Malky - play an exceptional part,
as throughout the trilogy, adding continuity to the storylines.
Effie is no exception to a strong cast - this unexpected addition to
the group is like a breath of fresh air but, she is not without her own
problems & demons. She is interesting from the first time you meet her.
This is a wonderful trilogy in the SF/Fantasy genre and I would
recommend it to anyone who enjoys a book with a bit of everything! Well
done Miller Lau - I am starting the trilogy again...

An enthralling read from start to finish, 10 Jun 2004

This review is from: Lore Bringer (Last Clansman) (Paperback)
There are many changes in location and characters from the previous books in the Last Clansman trilogy in Lore Bringer but all of them are good and make this probably the best of three books.
The Indian aspect is a masterstroke as is Yiska, a character who you instantly feel sympathy and respect for as you do Effie, who starts the book as a silly girl and ends it as a woman who wins the heart of a supposedly heartless Emporer, this story alone is enthralling with it's twists and turns.
Great to see Malky back in the story from beginning to end, well done Miller Lau for making such a surprising endearing, funny character, he is my favourite of them all.
There have been many changes in Sutra sinch the last book, many bad to start with, but most of these are remedied as the book progresses and you feel your heart leap with each victory over evil as Jahl raises his ugly head again.
All in all another brilliant book by Miller Lau who now has me totally hooked as fantasy reader.
