Wonderful. This recording gets so much closer to the spirit of JRR Tolkien's work than any other piece of music, without attempting to be too "illustrative". It is a highly personal interpretation, and one feel's that Bo Hansson is in tune with the mood of his Nordic roots and nature, whilst fusing with the jazz genre of the 1970s. Hansson's greatest work could only have been written in that most experimental of decades.

Light a single candle. Turn on "Lord of the Rings" in a nearly dark room. And enjoy.

I owned this in 1978 on vinyl and am so pleased to find it still available I can not wait to revisit my early youth and introduce it to my friends and family. Iused to play it all the time and found that it really helped to visualise the book and I also felt that the film has enhanced my enjoyment of the original music. I recommend it to all of us who are forty-something as you will all remember the 70`s with this. I am delighted to see it still has the original cover as well-just sit back,close your eyes and enjoy!!!

I have had the original tape since the 70's and think it is the best representation of tolkein's book I have ever heard. The music is so atmospheric and sends shivers down your back (if you listen in the dark). You can almost feel the book's every page. Wonderful. I have now ordered the CD to replace a very worn tape.

Classic 70's album
Just wanted to say bought this in 74! , lost it through the years( don't have a turntable now) and then found it on Amazon. Sounds just as good if not better!
