Tolkien's classic fantasy novel, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King video game puts the fate of Middle-earth in the hands of the gamer. In the final installment of the blockbuster movie trilogy, players must destroy the One Ring by casting it into the Crack of Doom, freeing Middle-earth from the clutches of the Dark Lord Sauron. EA's second Lord of the Rings action adventure game, The Return of the King, allows players to journey through multiple gameplay paths, taking control of the motion picture trilogy's heroes. Defend the walls of Minas Tirith as Gandalf, raise the Army of the Dead as Aragorn, Legolas or Gimli, and with Frodo and Sam, deliver the ring to the fiery depths of Mount Doom. Based on the environments from the upcoming movie, The Return of the King's third person gameplay will include immersive action and adventure elements set in rich, interactive levels. An all-new multiplayer co-op mode will let players form their own Fellowship before embarking on their journey through Middle-earth.

Blew me away!,

I am not a big fan of the gameboy as most games have no replayibility once you finish. I prefer racing games on them because the outcome is normally different. However, when I walked into GAME one day with £30 burning a hole in my pocket my eyes rested on LORD OF THE RINGS: RETURN OF THE KING. And, boy, was that a good buy. You play as all of the fellowship and a few secret characters. the game has bosses, which, have special powers. You play through 100's of levels, collecting and upgrading weapon (pro's, the hard hero's are: Legolas, Gandalf and Eowyn) The best bit is that you can upgrade attributes by collecting points by killing enemies. + when you kill enough enemies you go up a "level" which gives you a point to spend on special powers. There are also secret levels, which you unlock as you play the game. Upon selecting a secret level you chooose a difficulty (normal, hard or grueling, normals easiest!) and you load one of your saved games so when you start you have all of your equipment. When playing these levels if you hapen to complete it you can save your game to keep equipment, jewels points etc. If you complete the game you can save it and start again with everything you collected last time! There is so much to do in this game! A MUST BUY! DO IT NOW OR YOUR GAMEBOY WILL RUN OFF! READ MY LIPS! BEST GAME ON GAMEBOY EVER!

Having bought and enjoyed the GBA version of "the Two Towers", I'd heard this was more of the same. It is - and it's even better.It's a third-person fighting game, following the plot of "Return of the King", and if you've ever played Diablo, it's the same sort of thing. Wander round, hack and slash at the bad guys, pick up the bits of weapons and armour they leave behind and sell them to buy better equipment and skills for your character. You can play several characters from the game, each of which has different strengths and weaknesses, and each of which follows a slightly different plot depending on their role in the story. This allows the game to replayed several times in completely different ways if you decide to finish it with each different character. The graphics are well-done, and there are screenshots from the film to illustrate bits of the story (including bits which were clearly cut from the film - get your sneak preview of the extended version here!). The music is excellent, being based on key signature themes from the score, and it's not too tinny either, for a GBA game. If I had any complaints at all, it would be that they've made it slightly too easy since enemies don't do much damage and good items are introduced very early in the game - the Two Towers game was a lot more challenging. Definitely nice to look at, fun to play, and many hours of entertainment to be had from it too.

This game gives you everything. It is done in the same layout as The Two Towers GBA game. You can choose ou of 6 different charachters: Pluss you can unlock a furthter 2: Each charcater (like in The Two Towers GBA Game) has different skills (MAGIC-Gandalf!) and abilitys(MAGIC!!!!) which can be upgraded from leval to leval. This makes the game a chooce altoghter: which character? What abilitys? What Skills? And the is not ALL!!! The game has levals from ALL 3 films and has a multi way option. There must be over 200 levals in all! (Twice that of The Two Towers GBA game!!!). And then there is still the multi player! Join and go threw the game OR do multi player maps not in SINGLE PLAYER!!! You can unlock new items with this pluss new skills!!! All in all the Game is V.Good!!! It has everything that The Two Towers has plus more. (e.g Gimli for Single player, 2,000 new items and hundreds more skills!!). GET IT!!!
