As the other reviews have stated, Catherine Coulter makes a very believable case out of Henrietta's dressing up as a man...it's true that most of the time we only see what we expect to see. The story raced through, funny and entertaining, but as soon as Henrietta is wounded, I found it lost its pace. It seemed as if Coulter didn't really know what to do with the hero and heroine once he'd found out about her. As for the resolution of the mystery of who killed Henrietta's brother, I thought that was the most unbelievable, flat ending ever.

Throughout this book I had this insatiable urge to seek the woman out, shake her whilst yelling one does not address (or refer to) a Marquess as "your" and "his grace"... she also seems to mistake a baronet and baron in other books. Her names are also unfortunately not of the Regency era... though they existed, were not popular. Jason I ask you? The name sounds more in the line of an athletic American youth not so much a mysterious and possibly murderous Marquess.

If you want to read a romance read it. However, don't expect much from her historical accuracy...

She also plays the miscarriage card in her books often... thankfully she refrains in this book... a small blessing. Other than that Hetty is lovable if just slightly naïve in her assessment of Jason and the plot itself is well enough. I do believe a rating of 3 is justified.

Henrietta's antics kept you laughing until the very end, which proved rather emotional. Buy this book! You won't regret it. I've read it 5 times and still find myself enchanted by it.
