Genre: LGBT, Fantasy & Paranormal
Series: The Greenwood. (The Greenwood series can be read in any order. Other titles in the series are Bound for the Forest and Bound to the Beast.)
Warning: contains scenes of m/m sex, kink, and fetish.

Dark forces are rising. Under the Greenwood trees, foul spirits grow powerful, and greedy barons plunder the lands. Only one man dares fight back--Robin Hood.

Robin's band of brothers is broken. Now a lone warrior, he denies his famous name and laments the friends and lovers he's lost. When the fair folk capture Cal, a beautiful young forester descended from the Greenwood's ancient protectors, Robin rescues him and forges a new alliance.

Despite a sizzling attraction, Robin senses Cal isn't like his old comrades, and he's right. Cal's been raised as a royal spy. He plans to seduce and betray Robin, but can't harm the man he's falling hard for. Mistrust and arguments spill into passionate lovemaking, as Cal learns the meaning of loyalty, fighting beside Robin, the only friend he's ever known. Even the enchanted forest seeks to bind Robin and the returned protector ever tighter.

Their connection will be tested by nature's wildest forces, Robin's past, Cal's lies, and in a baron's darkest dungeon. To survive, Robin and Cal must admit their love and embrace their true destinies. Only then can they save England and each other--and win their happiness ever after.

More About the Author

Hi there! Thanks for clicking - so who am I?

My name's Kay, and I write m/m romance, mainly fantasy and paranormal, with lots of hot sex and a sprinkling of BDSM. I am the author of the Greenwood series - Bound for the Forest, Bound to the Beast, and Lord of the Forest, all published by Loose Id.

These three standalone m/m romances are interlinked by my fantasy version of the English Greenwood, in which all are set. The world is inspired by forest lore, especially the myths and legends of the New Forest, which is near where I live in Hampshire, UK. The Greenwood is a dreamlike world rich with magic, fairies, mystery, sweet and evil spirits, action, fighting, and passionate lovers. I've had a lot of fun writing it and I hope you will enjoy exploring it too.

I live with my beloved "other half," in a very small flat that blesses us on occasion with outbreaks of moths and mould. When we aren't both madly working, we enjoy drinking wine, visiting castles and gorgeous countryside, and stalking cats and greenfinches. I love cats, but because our home is so small, I have to moggy-share with my parents. My cat, Siena (pictured) lives with them. We also travel a lot. My favorite cities are Melbourne, Venice, and Berlin -- plus York and London (I went to uni in the last two.)

I was once okay at tennis and have forgotten how to play the violin and piano. I currently jog -- but not very far -- and enjoy reading all kinds of romance and long, rambling historical novels big enough to commit murder with.

5.0 out of 5 stars historical romance at its best! 16 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm a big fan of this author's work, but I can honestly say I think this is Ms. Berrisford's best work to date. The story is so rich and complex; I'm a sucker for Robin Hood legend, but this story is very much its own.

The visuals are, as always with this author, simply stunning. I love forests, trees, faeries hiding in the bracken, and old folklore. It's told in a way that always flows like poetry, never like a boring history lesson; it's as history should be told, with excitement and passion.

And OMG, Robin & Cal >.< NNGGGHH.

And a cameo from Herne the Hunter -- i nearly fainted several times.

My new favourite historical romance :D

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book 16 May 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed this take on Robin Hood after his band has gone their separate ways and he's older! For most of the book I couldn't get to liking Cal much though, it wasn't until near the end that he started showing some real strength of character and showed he could make the right choices and be a good guy in his old way.

I did think Robin was good for Cal, he brought out the best in him and taught him what it meant to be a friend, to care about others and put someone else first. To his credit Cal in the end gave Robin what he'd been wanting his whole life, someone to come home to that would stick by him no matter what and stay with him. Everyone else he cares about has drifted off, gotten married or died, he's never had anyone just for himself, a life partner but he found that in Cal! He finally got the family he'd been dreaming off thanks to the fair folk!

I love how the author made Marian his foster sister instead of his love interest in the book and how she changed his origins to unknown till he learnt the truth of them near the end of the book!

It was a great read and held my attention throughout! While the character of the Elfane wasn't very endearing, I loved the character of Hearne, what little we seen of him and the Spirits of the forest that we met too. I would certainly recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating 17 May 2013
By Jill - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
One of the things I like best about Kay Berrisford's books is the time she invests in building world and atmosphere. Her characters spring from myth, history, and imagination, at once familiar but often fuller and more grown up than the impressions we have from stories and history books. Kay Berrisford fills in the truth of these men's hearts, and creates rich, rewarding love stories.

Lord of the Forest is no exception. Here she gives us a world-weary Robin Hood, a warrior through and through, but with a vulnerability any of us would recognize in ourselves. Whatever our ideals, our hopes, our compassion, our desires, we feel the pressure of others' expectations and either snap under it or learn to rise above it. In Lord of the Forest, Robin is many things to many people--a hero, a legend, an enemy, a companion, an object of desire. But what Berrisford shows us here is the man.

Cal, the regent's whore and supposed traitor Robin falls for, is equally complex. Torn between his love for Robin and his desperate need to rise above a past of abuse and neglect using any means necessary, he is alternately sympathetic, endearing, frustrating, and ultimately brave enough to let himself be afraid, unsure, and willing to trust in a love that seems improbable, but feels absolutely right.

"Cinematic" comes to mind in the way Berrisford weaves legend, magic, brutality, and the quiet moments between the two men. The action is often exciting, sometimes playful, and highly visual--a nod, perhaps, to past films. The world is lush, beautiful, and the erotic undercurrent, as always in Berrisford's novels, palpable throughout, even in the moments her characters think themselves enemies. As a reader, it's often possible to tell when a writer believes in the magic he or she has created. The sincerity of this story, its quiet beauty, and its trust in a hope that can conquer pain, all kept me interested to the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy Robin Hood 15 May 2013
By Ann K - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
More of a 4.5, but I rounded up. This is the best of Kay Berrisford's works I've read to date. Lots of twists and turns in the plot. Even though it's a romance and I knew the Cal and Robin would end up together, I was *still* on the edge of my seat wondering how the heck they would, given their respective histories and Cal's predilection to be a turncoat.

Complex characters, wild magic, faeries that aren't always happy-go-lucky and sexy scenes in the forest. Plus betrayal and torture and hope nearly lost...a potent mix.

I adore all things Robin Hood, so it was fun to see Ms. Berrisford put her stamp on the legend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down 29 April 2013
By Annette Gisby - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I adore anything to do with Robin Hood, so when I saw this book by Kay Berrisford, how could I resist? Not only Robin Hood, but mystical forces of the Greenwood, the Green Man and Herne the Hunter - I was in reading Heaven.

The writing is as lush as the forests our characters find themselves in and despite there being elementals, spirits and fairies, everything seemed so real. With descriptions so vivid you could almost imagine yourself there among the Greenwood yourself. The writing is very lyrical, almost like poetry and never once did you feel you were being lectured on History, everything just flowed within the plot.

The love scenes between Robin and Cal are scorching hot, but as well as the physical connection, there is also the emotional one between them. Both are damaged characters but you hope that finally they have found someone to share their life with.

Cal and Robin's road to love does not run smoothly and I think it worked so much better for it - you know they'd been through a lot to get their happy ending. There were lies, manipulations, betrayals mixed in with a good dose of lust and lust for revenge. Not only do they have to contend with the odious Baron Odo, the sheriff of Nottingham here, but also the truth about Robin's old flame, Daniel. The book is wonderful and I don't really know what else to say about it except - go, read and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant 17 April 2013

This story is well written with great characterization and a compelling story. It is beautiful story of how two souls that are both yearning for love, finally come together despite plans against their love and forsaken pasts. I recommend this story to anyone yearning for a good love story that goes beyond the stereotypes and into a fantasy adventure that leaves glued to the page from the first word.
