More About the Author

Ian was for many years a ship's chandler, part of the fourth generation in his family business, supplying merchant vessels around the UK and north west Europe. Deciding that too much of his time was spent in travelling, and looking for a job which allowed more time for a home life, he set up a local business of his own; a registered firearms dealership.

However, although still fun, the gun shop had turned out to be much busier than originally envisaged, and is now run by son Mike, with Ian relegated to the role of general dogsbody. He is also a commercially qualified pilot on medium sized twin engined aircraft.

Ian and his wife, Margaret, another pilot, live in Cheshire, they have three grown up children and, so far, two grand children. For many years writing has been his hobby, resulting in about one book a year, though never with any thought of being published. It was only after taking part in an Arts Council funded literary criticism website that his books found their way into print.

Ian Okell has also published under the name of IAN LINDSAY, principally a book called 'Barabbas' - a biography of that character and a look at the turmoil and tangled relationships which went with the early years of the church.

This book was a real find, Ian Okell's other books are all about different historical periods, but this one's set right NOW. The political background, when you manage to work out what's happening, could be lifted straight from last night's News at Ten.

It's fast and it's a lot of fun. The scenes before, during and after the football match are an object lesson for other writers on how to mix tension with black humour, I re-read that section two or three times, and now identify totally with Harry. Surprisingly for a thriller, the love interest is treated seriously and the female lead comes across as a very strong character in her own right - if anything stronger than Harry.

The research he does for his books must be phenomenal - you actually feel you've been to the various places involved. It's good, very good and the characters are easily strong enough for a sequel - any chances?? (if one appears I promise I'll buy a copy!)
