I loved Andrew Pern's first book Black Pudding & Foie Gras with its opulent velvet cover and fantastic photography (not to mention mouth watering recipes and delightful commentary) and couldn't imagine how a 2nd book would top it. But it does!
Again with the most unusual cover, stunning photography, recipes you can't wait to try - every page is a delight to read. But it's not just the words, or the pictures or recipes, it's the the whole style of the book, the layout, the imagery and the way it's been put together makes it not just a cookbook, but a work of art. So now I just can't wait to see what number 3 will have in store!
Oh and I can highly recommend the chicken, ale and wensleydale cheese pie - Mmmmmmm

After becoming an addict for Andrews writing style I just had to purchase this little belter....
Loose Birds & Game delivers a fresh approach to the often dark and dismal autumnal and winter dishes normally associated with game. Ruddy cheeks and red noses are replaced with the virtues of low traceable fat in venison, the rarity of being able to eat grouse as a stew, salads that will be the envy of every Knightsbridge restaurant, with ladies that lunch, to snacks that the kids will devour and, to keep everyone happy, there's even a tipple for Grandad. Andrew Pern showcases the heritage and versatility of game as part of what defines his idea of `British ness', but in a light and informative mood. His intention is to make some of the food that makes Britain great, more accessible and appealing to a larger and more interested audience.

Don't think, just BUY!
This has to be one of the most beautiful cookbooks ever. Even the cover is wonderfull. A padded silky tactile feel which means you just don't want to put it down. Read more
