Review

Monster, or poet? Beast, or artist? One thing is for certain, this man remains the prison system s most talked about resident. Loonology takes you on a harrowing tour inside the mind of the man, the legend, Charles Bronson. --Loaded Magazine

Scary reading, this book is as close as we're comfortable getting to Mr Bronson! --Daily Sport

Charles Bronson is certainly unlike anyone else in the British prison system. Truly, this is the dark side of the loon. --The Guardian

Scary reading, this book is as close as we're comfortable getting to Mr Bronson! --Daily Sport

Charles Bronson is certainly unlike anyone else in the British prison system. Truly, this is the dark side of the loon. --The Guardian

If Allah or God ever required a spokesman to reveal the unpalatable truth about the British Prison System, he would select Charles Bronson. He is the only writer to date that can make me laugh hysterically on one page and then smash me in the face with human misery and despair on another. Where would we be without this master raconteur of fearless honesty. --Terry Smith, Author of 'Nil Desperandum'

Charlie Bronson is a larger-than-life character whose antics have fascinated our readers - and ourselves - for many a year. Charlie Bronson has an amazing story to tell and he tells it in his own inimitable way, pulling no punches and with plenty of humour. --Phil Robinson, Ellesmere Port Pioneer (Editor)

Product Description

Lifer Charlie Bronson s reputation precedes him - Britain s most violent prisoner - or does it? Do we really know the true Charlie, or are our impressions the result of media hype? Well, what is in no doubt is that Loonyology is 200% Bronson and will transport the reader on the dizziest no-holds-barred roller-coaster ride of their lives, from suspense and shock to laughter and tears, and from Bronson the Solitary King to Bronson the Philosopher, the Poet, the Artist, the Author, the Joker, the Walking Scar and the Freedom Fighter. Now 55 years old, and having spent most of his last 34 years as a maximum security Bronco Zoo inmate, he s a much wiser man as he looks back on his crazy journey of unpredictable behaviour, his ever-alert mind darting from reminiscences of his teenage years to memories of fellow-cons, the screws, the cranks, letters and news reports, prison life and procedures, and the overall madness ( loonyology ) of the legal and penal systems, peppering his stories with diary entries, true gems of information, sound advice and hilarious one-liners. Together with his many supporters and with the aid of a top lawyer, Charlie is campaigning for the parole board to finally allow him his freedom, but begging is not his style: he calls a spade a spade and is determined to win with dignity, fighting with his pen and his brain to achieve his aim of a life outside the cage . In his words: I chose to be a villain. I m not proud of it, nor am I ashamed of it. I have paid my debt to society and it s time to go home.

A...MAZING!! 6 May 2010
Format:Hardcover
This is the first book I have read, which i literally couldn't put down! It took me just 2 days to read, it made me laugh, cry, angry, sad..all emotions possible!

Charles Bronson is not the big evil bad man the media make him out to be, he is a gentle giant, who has been treated in an inhumane way. Until you read his book, you have no right to have an opinion of him.
This man is intelligent, funny, loving and caring (unless he is pushed the wrong way, and in my opinion, the people that did get the angry side of him, 100% deserved it).
People need to remember he was arrested for stealing a few pennies from a post office, he has never killed anybody. Yet years later, he is still fighting for his freedom.
This man gives great detail on the justice system and what's really happening in our prisons. He talks about the likes of Ian Huntley and how that monster is living a life of luxury, whilst a petty thief is in solitary confinement..is that fairness??!!
Yes there is a lot of bad language in this book and some sexual contents, (but he is a man afterall!)
I'm 23, and wouldn't say i was anywhere near being a brainbox, but anyone with a little common sense would see this man surely deserves his freedom now.
I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who has ever said a bad word against this man!!
or generally to anybody who wants to learn something new, as he does have a lot of random facts in this book!

A cracker 29 Dec 2008
Format:Hardcover
This tome is written in the familiar Bronson vernacular that fans have come to know and love. Charlie is fearless in his approach. He exposes the Justice system for what it is - woeful, a soft-touch, and completely ineffective. Read it to find out more.
He entertains with a plethora of literary material - poetry, newspaper articles, interview transcripts, even his Christmas dinner menu is in this book!

* the book contains some (a lot) of strong language and opinions which some readers may not find agreeable - Charlie is what he is

Great read 29 Dec 2008
Format:Hardcover
I didn't buy the book from here but definitely reccommend it to anyone! I've read several of Charlies books and this latest one is one of his best yet. Seeing life through the eyes of someone who has been locked away most of his life is an eye opener and really makes you appreciate the freedom most of us have. Those who have read about Charlie before will probably agree that he should have been freed a long, long time ago - those who have only heard of Charles through the media should really take a look at the other side of the story!
