Firstly, don't be put off by the lack of box shot or information on this listing - this really is the second volume in the Looney Tunes Golden Collection series! It's the same as the American version, so if you want to find out more about it you might want to do a quick search on Amazon.com rather than .co.uk.

It contains 60 cartoons spread over 4 DVDs, along with a host of commentaries, featurettes, rare toons and shorts, clips, voice-only tracks, interviews... the list goes on! The cartoons have been beautifully restored and remastered, and are presented uncut with all title sequences intact (which is just as well, as my only real gripe with this collection is that there isn't much info on the packaging or the menus - you have to play the cartoons to find out what year they were made, who directed them, etc.)

As with any collection of this size, there are a couple of cartoons that I can't see myself watching more than once, but the majority of the toons on here are fantastic stuff. It's hard to pick favourites, but highlights include the classic "What's Opera, Doc" and "One Froggy Evening", along with some pretty rare jazzy Merrie Melodies including "I Love to Singa" and "Have You Got Any Castles?".

This is an excellent collection and an absolute must for toon fans, kids, big kids, etc. If you don't already have it, I'd recommend that you get the Golden Collection Volume One first (but I'm biased towards Daffy, so I would say that); however, this is certainly a worthy follow-up and deserves a place on anyone's shelf.

Finally, because I have a kind heart, here's a listing of the cartoons on each DVD. There are too many extras to list, so you'll just have to take my word for it that you'll be surprised and delighted!

I have waited a long time to find `What's Opera. Doc' in a compilation DVD. Great value for your money when you see all the stuff on here but worth buying for this gem alone. However, there are many other cartoons in there which will instantly transport you back to Saturday morning in the cinema - the only way to get a dose of cartoons when I was a kid growing up in the 60s...

great purchase 18 Feb 2010
Format:DVD
Saturday evenings do not have the same appeal to kids as it did when I was younger and Looney Tunes was an integral part to the evening. Now due to the amount of reality shows and other poor shows it really is bad. However the purchase of this DVD is a gem,and I specifically bought it for my son who is just over 15 years old and had not really seen any of these cartoons .He can now enjoy and watch what I watched on a Saturday all those years ago
The cost of this purchase is nothing when you hear the laughter of my son and me laughing at the same cartoon situations. What a great buy!
