I am a fan of both Chrononauts and 'Back to the Future' and this game is a brilliant blend of the two!

Gameplay:
The game is very similar to Chrononauts; essentially there is a timeline laid out on the table which starts as time stands before anyone has messed with it. During the game players can change key events (linchpins) which have knock on effects for other events (ripple points) - If this is confusing, then think about the film, you might change history so that George McFly stands up to Biff which has knock on effects to events in later years. Essentially each player has a 'character' and the goal is to arrange time so meet the requirements of your character.

There is of course more to the game including artefacts (objects) that you can play to give you certain abilities or help you and many other cards which either help you or you can use against other players.

Differences to Chrononauts:
For anyone who has played Chrononauts, it will be familiar, but also has some key differences:

Firstly history is changed through the use of time-machine cards (rather than the reverse fate cards); each time machine has specific differences (eg. The one from BTTF3 requires you to have the locomotive in play). History can also be changed using the 'hitch a ride' card and 'double-back' cards which each carry their own specific rules.

The second key difference is that due to the nature of the films the timeline isn't strictly linear in the linchpins can change ripplepoints earlier in the timeline - this takes some getting used to, however the timeline is shorter than chrononauts so it balances out.

Finally the game is finished when you have your timeline setup and you manage to un-invent timetravel (ie.

Ive always been a fan of Back to the Future, and more recently of Fluxx ( another game by the same creators) which is fantastic, so I had to buy this when I found out about it. It didn't let me down. It is perhaps a little complicated for a person who has never played this kind of games before, but you learn by playing and then it is really fun! I recommend it especially to fans of the movies!

This is really easy to pick up and relatively quick to play. Me and my husband really like it. You don't need to know the Back To The future movies but if you do it makes it easier to understand and more enjoyable.

Really fun game, and exactly what I expected. I advise people to be more than two players, but that's the only downside.

My brother and I (in our twenties) are big fans of the Back to the Future series. I bought him this as a Christmas present and we had hours of fun playing it. Great use of movie trivia, quotes (You steal my stuff?!) etc. Top rating for a top game.
