I had big expectations after finding out that Looking was developed by Andrew Haigh, critically acclaimed for his beautiful movie Weekend. Excited even more because Murray Bartlett, who shined in another intriguing movie August, was portraying one of the main characters. Had my doubts about Jonathan Groff, not really knowing his previous work except for the minor role in the teenage soap musical Glee.
From the first episode I knew that I was watching a groundbreaking show. Nothing flamboyant and stereotypical about the three main characters, surprisingly good J.Groff, realistic script, great almost documentary camera and high quality supporting actors - Russell Tovey as a confident Brit pining away for Groff's character is an absolute gem.
Looking forward to next season and hoping that Dom and Augustin will soon discover gillette razors - not a fan of facial hair.
