A worthy addition to the ranks of British jazz composer-pianists, Kate Williams has the knack of making a simple trio or quartet sound much bigger. She does this not by creating sound and fury, but through a wonderful ever-changing variety of harmony and texture. This personal style is best demonstrated in her regular quartet with Jeremy Brown (double bass), Matt Skelton (drums) and Julian Siegel (saxophones). Here, they perform a mix of original material and tunes by composer/pianists such as Mulgrew Miller and Lennie Tristano.
Recorded 2001
Personnel:
Kate Williams - (piano), Jeremy Brown - (double bass), Julian Siegel - (saxophones, bass clarinet), Matt Skelton - (drums)
