Book Description

30 July 2011
'I glanced at Dextrose's nose, pock-marked, crimson and bulbous, the overripe strawberry that everyone leaves in the punnet. As I did so, his right nostril blew a bubble of snot that might fascinate a small child.' Having completed his quest to follow in the footsteps of intrepid explorer Harrison Dextrose, Pilsbury has been hit with a revelation - that he is the product of those terrible loins. And that's not all. His mother has been left behind somewhere on the globe and he must find her. (Dextrose's own words.) There ensues an unprecedented adventure. A shaman and his curious son, sozzled rednecks, a sweet old lady, nauseating poetry and the Nameless Highway all stand in Pilsbury's way. Is he up to the task? Aided only by his alcoholic father and a grumpy basketball player, our sort-of hero sets off - looking for Mrs Dextrose.

Review

'There is humour running throughout the book, I found myself snorting with laughter at some parts. The comical moments of the book arise mostly from Harrison's and Pilsbury's open honesty and the random situations they find themselves in... Upon reading the entire book I felt it was a clever, slick and enticing. I would certainly recommend it as an entertaining read. Trust me you won't be able to put it down.' - Spaghetti Junction, Birmingham City University

'Looking for Mrs Dextrose' is puerile, at times revolting, and utterly unmissable... the book's spectacular energy speaks for itself and your life won't feel complete without it.' - Coral Williamson, Forge Media

'A witty joke every page and a completely unexpected twist in every chapter is definitely one that could easily keep you engrossed for hours and bring a moment of sanity in an otherwise difficult week. Readers who are ready to suspend reality and adopt a new outlook and character with amazingly well-written dialogue and imagined thought will certainly not be disappointed.' --Libby Holderness, Reading University

4.0 out of 5 stars King of Comedy 30 Nov 2010
Format:Paperback
Work your way through the opening pages and you will be well rewarded for your efforts - I say this because the unique style and methodology of the author will spark off many questions, some maybe critical, inside your head as you first enter the authors universe. But rest assured that the very real and very unreal world that the characters inhabit is well worth becoming aquainted with. Tom Sharpe used to be the British King of Comedy (literature wise) but I would suggest that crown has now passed onto Nick Griffiths...

5.0 out of 5 stars A minking belter of a follow-up! 12 Feb 2011
By Vicki
Format:Paperback
This sequel to "In the Footsteps of Harrison Dextrose" had me in stitches from start to finish. It is absolutely hilarious and even manages to top the most outrageous scenes from the previous book. I couldn't put it down!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning sequel ... full of surprises 9 Nov 2010
Format:Paperback
I first read 'In Search of' (the 1st book) a few summers ago and fell in love with the characters and story and have been waiting a long time for the follow up.

I am pleased to say that the sequel more than delivers and is a great read. The story picks up from where 'in search of' left off and launches straight into more adventures.
The main characters all take on their own very unique identities and carry the story with pace, twists and some lovely dark humor. There are also some real heartfelt moments in the book which shows a new light to the Dextrose series.

There is so much I want to say about this book but simply cant as they are SPOILERS and I don't want to give anything away for people wanting to read it. But all I can say is there are some massive shocks and laughs along the way.

Its like a very twisted road trip - a real adventure and will open up a whole new world that you can get lost in.
