My daughter chose to save some of her birthday money in July to buy this when it was released. She is 7 yrs old and has enjoyed reading and listening to the Clarice Bean books - as have I! (and the Charlie & Lola books before that) We were both excited when we heard that Lauren Child was creating the Ruby Redfort books. I think these books are probably written for an older audience, I am having to stop to explain elements of the book to my daughter, especially words like sneakers and barrettes etc but I think that adds to her enjoyment - she is also learning about another culture! I am reading it to her as a bedtime story but we are both struggling to stop when it is time for bed ... we both can't wait to read on and see what happens. All in all a fabulous book and a must read for all children 7+

When I first saw this book in WH Smiths, I swear I actually squealed out of excitement.

After reading all the Clarice Bean books when I was about seven - and then rereading them again recently after remembering how great they were - I thought I knew all there was to know about Ruby Redfort.

I was so wrong.

This book just blew my mind. From page 1 I was hooked. I thought it might just be a collectable item for those who had read the Clarice Bean stories and thought it would be awesome to actually read the actual Ruby Redfort books - but no. I would've loved it just the same if I hadn't read the Clarice Bean series. It was sharp; it was witty; it was packed full of adventure and contained loads of cheesy american phrases that I just love - you better believe it buster!

And this book doesn't just have one specific age range. I'm twelve years old, and although a lot of younger people read these too, I was still left puzzling over a lot of the codes Ruby had to crack. Even adults will have fun trying to decipher some of the codes sent between Ruby and her good friend Clancy.

So, in short, if you want a good read - look no further than this.

I bought this book for my 14 year old granddaughter and read it myself to check it out. I found it a riveting read and totally absorbing. Great fun and an interesting. I will read other books in this series as they are a light-hearted approach to literature and hope they will motivate my teenage granddaughter to enjoy settling into a good book. I recommend it to anyone who wants to put aside their anxieties and immerse themselves in this adventure with Ruby.

I like Ruby Redfort and I heard about Ruby Redfort from reading Clarice Bean. I enjoyed finding out about her gadgets. I am 6 3/4 (soon to be 7) and I think Ruby is brilliant. Much better than Sapphire Battersea which is the other book I have read this week.

I'm a 14 year old girl and I had this book for Christmas and I have just finished it. It has to be one of the best book I have read ever! It keeps you interested throughout the whole novel and I really could not put it down. I can't wait to see if there is a next book for a Ruby Redfort series as I'm sure it will be just as amazing. I also love the fact that when you have the book you can go on [...] and solve a code with clues found in the book (I'm trying to crack this code at the moment) Overall as iv'e said it is an AMAZING book and I highly recoment you buy it right now! Thanks, and bye.

Amazing.

I loved this book so so much that I decided only to only read one chapter a night so that I could be reading it for ages.
I am 13 and I often struggle to find the right book to read. My sister pointed the Ruby Redfort books out to me when we were on holiday when I'd finished the book I'd taken with me. I wasn't sure if I'd like it so as I sat in the car and began to read it while my mum and dad were in the supermarket I read it quite slowly. I immediately loved this book because Ruby is so confident and doesn't really care what other people think about her and has a very unique style. Also, her best friend is a boy. Most books that I read or hear about are about girls that are best friends that just talk about boys and stuff and that can get kinda boring.

Ruby Redfort is a 13 year old girl who already has a history of winning awards and prizes for code cracking. She becomes a secret agent for Spectrum and the fact that she's not allowed to tell anyone about it causes quite alot of struggles between her friends and especially Clancy, her best friend. This book is full of suspicious phone calls, a lot of code cracking and lots of really clever things.

The book starts when Ruby is a wee girl and she is looking out of the window. The author speaks about all the different things Ruby is seeing. They're not terribaly impotant things but the way it is written makes you want to read on and on. This book is written so very very well and is extreamaly gripping, exciting and also quite funny!

I definately reccomend this book for anyone!
